Went to the NY Auto Show yesterday...

Skipped past the boring stuff, I mean come on who really wants to look at a Camry?

The best of the show:

BMW I8, wow, welcome to the future!
Jag F type. Pure Austin Powers sex on wheels, best looking Jag since the original E type.
Jag XK, yeah its a Jaaaaaag, but with hood louvers!:D

Maserati and Alfa Romeo for the first year had large displays full of amazing looking cars. Since they are Italian they cannot make a bad looking car, and between the women and the cars you pretty much want to buy anything they will sell you!:D

Aston Martin, had the DB9 Carbon Edition. Love AM they just keep making the same version even cooler. An interesting side note, the new Jag's now have AM's sexy flush mounted door handles.

As usual Mercedes destroyed BMW who seems to be in a bit of confusion. The BMW guy couldn't explain to me the reason a 4 series sedan existed and why it was different in any way from a 3 or a 5? I think BMW had to much beer at last years Oktoberfest and needs to sober up.

The big news over at Mercedes other than a lame electric car no one cares about are the big money AMG bruisers. The SL65 AMG is back, the S63 AMG coupe is back with the 65 right behind it. The average MSRP for what they had their was probably around $200k, twice what BMW and Audi brought to the table. Overall they are moving into Bentley GT territory with the S coupes.

Audi was pushing diesels hard, everything was TDI. I still think the S8 is an amazing car.

Cadillac is coming on strong, the new CTS is an amazing car, and a big $100k caddy is coming and should be stunning.

Yeah, well, I went to an antique farm equipment and truck show. No new Jags, but plenty of good stuff:

By the way, that guy in middle, managed a full pull in the tractor pull exhibition.

I refuse to go. Seeing so many cars with mandatory autotragic transmissions makes me alternately want to weep or scream vile profanities in the salesdroids' faces. (And I know it's not actually the salesdroids' fault.)

I wish the Atlanta Auto Show was that nice. Mercedes only sends Sprinters, which are cool but I want to see the new C-Class! Also no Porsche.

When I went with my friend last year he was drooling over the new Accord while I ready to fall asleep. "Ohhh guys lets look at the Scions!" :snore:
BMW, Lexus, and Acura were the most upscale brands there but I wasn't really impressed by any of them, probably BMW more than Lexus and Acura way away from them. My friend loves Lexus as well and I know they are quality cars but I can't get over the uninspired designs of most of their cars. Volvo was there and their cars felt nicer than anything else there IMO. All we did was go around to every car and see how many of the 4 of us could fit (we put 4 of us in an Scion iQ), if I would fit in the trunk, then checked for loose panels. The domestics and Kia lost in that last area by a long shot. No concepts at the Atlanta car show either, so nothing to drool over except the one nice Lexus they had (an LFA), the Sprinters, and a few older cars they had.

Call me crazy but I prefer the old XJ to the new Jags. I also think the new CTS doesn't look great in person. Seeing them on the road makes me notice how cheap the DLRs look. Want one? Sure, Cadillacs now are much better than they were, though I still prefer a Tesla as the American symbol of status. The i8 looks great but to me its the only good looking vehicle the BMW makes. I like that Audi is pushing diesels but we need more of them here. Why is the CLA with the 2.1 diesel not offered when the same engine is in other cars here?

I gotta give you this one. This is a pretty cool thing about living in CT.

I didn't make it to the show this year, unfortunately. Been to the last 3 though, it's always a great production.

It's always a treat to visit one of the "big three" US car shows, Detroit, NYC and LA, even SEMA and it's worth considering timing a visit to see displays of cars from the companies instead of local dealership stock.

Yeah I won't go to any others, I went to one in Hartford one year and it was lame compared to NY, you don't get to see everything..and I mean everything!

The concept vehicles are awesome and GM always takes an entire wing for GM world.

The only manufacture that was not their, or at least I couldn't find was Tesla.

The Hartford one is terrible and always has been...Philly is decent though, nothing really compares to the nyias though.

Damn!

I thought that was your GF posing with a blue Maserati in the pic you sent me, not a model!
