The Imperial is of curiosity whether it garnered what was in it. The 240D was the one I was looking at for resale $.

they were running way behind and bidders were clearing out after a very long day. Saw one consignor with a 2001 Mercedes S500 throw a fit and walk off just before his car hit the block, probably in an attempt to go to the auction office and get his money back.

Bad luck for the imperial. Really laughable... not a single person had waited around for it. The auction assistants got really in my face trying to convince me to sell for 1 dealer lowball of $3000.

Herbie and the 240D did sell. $3750 and 2000. Considering the buyers have to pay a $99 fee along with $8%, that was decent money on the two.

If I didn't have the b-slap with the Imperial, it would have been enjoyable overall.

I also made a purchase. A 1998 Mercedes SL500 with 94000 miles and the coveted panoramic roof, which I will sell separately from the car for about $2000-$2500. Got the car for a good wholesale price even without the roof, so I was very happy with this one.

The prices realized seem fairly strong. I hope it was worth the trouble and cost to get them there.

Well in your biz, exposure costs and pays.
The sl500 is a nice find. I have read that ,this model is preferred due to the increased power.

To bad Herbie didn't attract more horse flies:-) .
The 240D was on the mark!

Richard will give $1,500 for it.

Seriously, I think I'd put AC in it. I have a lovely Sears AC unit that I got from my dad. It hangs under the dash. A lot of folks had them that way in the sixties and seventies. Buying a car without it was still fairly common back then, I suspect even with an Imperial.

A friend of Dad's bought a brand new Chrysler in 66 or 67 with a three speed stick on the column. Who knew you could even get a stick in a Chrysler that late? We suspected it was special order, perhaps by a farmer, and then refused by the buyer for some reason.

I read that 1969 was the first year more than half of new cars had AC. If I bought another oldie it would have AC. Undoubtably. Maybe a Hawk. More likely buy modern.

I was running my car AC more than half the time starting a couple weeks ago. Now I am running it almost all of the time. Weatherwise we are a week or so into a dry period.

My father's 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe was not equipped with factory A/C and had an aftermarket system installed that was very similar to the currently-available Vintage Air Mark IV system.

I hope the 240D winds up well cared for. Sure did seem to be a nice one.
