Summer Movies

Godzilla? Really? Is Mothra in post production?

The Amazing Spiderman 2? Marvel has Alzheimer's and does not remember the four other Spiderman movies since the first one 12 years ago?

Transformers: Age of Extinction I wonder what this will be about.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Was anyone waiting for the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes?

I am looking forward to a couple of summer releases, Life Itself, a bio pic about Roger Ebert and A Million Ways To Die in the West, hopefully the film to advance the "Blazing Saddles" western comedy genre.

Based on the previews I'm actually curious to see the new Godzilla movie. It looks like they are taking it quite seriously unlike that tacky 1998 remake...

The rest I'm not going to even bother thinking about.

Ah yes... The serious take on the Godzilla story. Truly an angle that has not been explored to the fullest.

I suppose one advantage to having 4 kids and no time to go to the movies with any regularity is that there are plenty of decent movies from the past 5+ years that I haven't seen yet to get me through the summer.

The number of movies one wants to see and the number that get ahead of you make your head spin. If you don't write them down, forget it. I find myself looking up favorite actors and actresses to see who's doing what. Plus 'on demand' works.

That's how the Mrs. and I see most of the movies. On-demand or Netflix after the two little ones go to bed and the 2 older ones are otherwise occupying themselves. And it's not always because the movies are violent or inappropriate, it's usually just because it's quiet.

I did finally start making a list for that very reason!

It's nice now that my oldest two are 14 and 16 and can leave them all to their own devices for a few hours. As soon as there's a movie worth seeing, it'll be dinner and a movie time for us!
