Teen pregnancies cost Florida taxpayers $443 million, study says
Seems the smart move would be on sex ed and contraception for starters. Of course doing the same thing we are doing (nothing) is a also an option.

It would probably be a good bet to say that throughout history teenagers have delivered more healthy babies than everyone else combined. Biologically they kick ass on everyone else. Our modern society, contrived for corporate profits, tries to delay conception but can't beat biology.

Maybe it's time to sent the bill to the local church.

"the smart move would be on sex ed and contraception for starters"
They're not getting pregnant from lack of education, they know fully well what makes babies. Contraception is freely available to those who want it. Teens get pregnant for the same reasons now as always: they like to screw, it feels good.

Bertrand Russell argued back in the 1920's I think that the extended period of education required in the modern world would produce problems with traditional marriage and traditional mores because it required the postponement of sex long after puberty. He proposed temporary marriages for that early period. That's not too far from what has actually evolved.
I'd probably be in favor of some kind of system in which the state guaranteed reduced college tuition for implanting birth control in both males and females at around 13 or 14 yrs old. Hobby Lobby would probably support it since it doesn't involve any abortifacient.

She routinely dealt with 13 and 14 year old girls still playing with barbies that were pregnant in her capacity as a special ed teacher (MS based). The issue isnt that teenagers like to screw, I think we can all agree that such a point is pretty self evident. The issue is that actually teaching sex education in schools in certain parts of the country is taboo. The main issue is that their parents like to deny that teenagers like to screw, and refuse to teach anything other than abstinence campaigns when they discuss it at all. Therefore we have generations of young kids with all the working parts, and no idea what dangers are involved, what consequences there are, and how much this can affect the rest of their lives. In my HS, we had ZERO teen pregnancies, because there was an excellent sex ed program, that both distributed condoms, demonstrated how they worked (with all the giggling involved) but also deeply educated us on STDs, the process of pregnancy, sex in general, and helped us make informed decisions. Some of these schools don't even touch the subject at all. The school where my sister worked, the educational standard was obscene. "dont do it" is not a sufficient form of sex ed.
