The future is bleak...

My daughter, who will graduate from High School next week, was asking if we had a cool iron. Of course, my wife and I had pained looks on our faces, because we had no idea what she was talking about...

Apparently her gown that she'll be wearing, along with her cap, will need to have a few wrinkles taken out, and the directions called for a cool iron.

I told her that was why we still use the old aluminum ice trays, that she'll need to lay the gown out and rub the bottom of the ice tray all over the gown.

Her response?? "Cool, Daddy, I didn't know you could do that"

We're screwed...

ROFLMAO!!!

You use a normal iron, on a cool setting (not the cotton setting).

I'm going to sit back now and laugh the rest of the night away....

I was wondering if the wrinkles might steam out. May be a touchy material.

Yeah. Hang it in the bathroom, shut the door and run the shower on hot alone for about 10 minutes.

Had it not been for my joining the military, I wouldn't know anything about ironing either.

Exclamation It's said:

It's a bad idea to give her an iron for an anniversary gift or a birthday present.

Well, whatever this material is, the cool iron didn't do anything for it. Her Baccalaureate was last night, and I don't think we saw a single person without factory fold wrinkles in their gown. Graduation is Friday, so she's going to take the gown to the dry cleaners to be properly pressed.

At my HS, we didn't get to keep the gowns, only the caps. The gowns were all pressed by the school and handed to us in great shape. Here, we had to buy both, and while new, the gown looks like it was slept in.

After last night's ceremony, I believe the district should fire the chorus teacher. The soloist sure knew her notes...and I think she made up a few as she went along. Two of them made my eyes go cross, and she hit one that made my wife's face twist in pain. Now I now why my daughter thinks she has a beautiful singing voice...and why my dogs run when she sings.

On a brighter "note", though...the ceremony last night was beautiful. There was a Preacher that offered a 10 minute prayer, where my son promptly fell asleep and I began to nod off, and the Catholic Priest offered a list of 18 inspirational passages from the Bible...each with a humorous story as examples for the grads. Then it was picture time. We took over 100 pictures, had a few family shots taken, and some goofy pictures as well.

I'll spare you the pictures, but tell you that it was very enjoyable.

Don't leave the iron on the stove as long. What settings are you talking about?
