She Was Pulled Over for Speeding......
The following is controversial; that said, anyone in the medical profession KNOWS that people who are in physical pain may say or do things that are out of character. Those who have never experienced severe hip pain and trauma may not understand completely her words and actions. I'm no bleeding heart but she didn't whip out a tazer or pull a gun on the cop, she merely wanted to see his badge number which she has a right to see. She also has the right to ask for and receive his business card.
There have been more than a few cases involving men impersonating cops who used the ploy to attack and rape women. There was a case in New Jersey involving exactly this; the guy had Starsky and Hutch flashing lights which he turned on to pull women over and then raped them. After about the eighth rape, the State of New Jersey made the wise decision to eliminate "plain wrapper" cop cars; all police cars would be clearly marked. Smart move by the State, though a little late for the police impersonator's rape victims. That said, I don't blame any woman for wanting to know for certainty who she is dealing with. Wonder if that coward of a cop would piss his pants like a small child if confronted with someone who's actually a threat. (And hope that he meets with an unexpected threat soon.)

This is the video of Daniel Saenz being killed while handcuffed. It's graphic and awful. He was handcuffed at the time.

As for the rape thing, I know a few years ago I wouldn't have hesitated to pull over for an unmarked Crown Vic with lights going. It would never have occurred to me it could be someone trying to trick me. But now I would drive to a gas station and pull in, call 911 on speaker while doing it and maybe just go slow in the shoulder while waiting for them to contact the officer. There's no winning. If you stop and ask for ID, if it's a rapist they probably will have a gun and just force you out. I think lots of states have outlawed unmarked cars making traffic stops for this reason.

I agree with you. Complicity in the system, unwillingness to go after cops, is tied to all kinds of problems. You may/may not know about this. Cops get away with a harrowing amount of domestic abuse, and 40% of police officers' partners experience abuse compared to the national average of 25%.

I hear you. And I completely agree the reason why there isn't policy reform is because generally the victims are not the people making the policies.
I don't know about the idea that I shouldn't drive alone at night. I'd much rather as a society we told rapists not to rape—and pursue and prosecute them when they do—than tell me I have to limit my life to avoid it. We often try to prevent rape by talking to potential victims rather than changing the culture. Anyway, topic for a different thread. I'd rather call 911 and explain my situation as I drove to a gas station. I'm a very careful driver (like to drive defensively because I love the car) so that would be a tip off for me if someone came after me to pull me over at 11 at night on a deserted road and I hadn't done anything wrong. That would be a real sink down in the seat and call 911 moment. But yeah, basically, the police frighten me. They can overreact and most of the time they are above the law. They are also many cases of actual cops raping women in their custody fwiw. Another good reason to have 911 on the phone when you talk with them. |
Since I generally don't believe in speed limits, I don't think that stop should have happened. However, it did happen. And dumbass yelled at cops (bad idea) and touched a cop (very bad idea). I LMFAO watching her get dragged to the squad car. I wonder if she's found out that the citing officer's name is on the citation?
Bottom line: Whatever issue you're having with a LEO, save it all for the judge. |
