Is this E1000 real or badge engineering?

Is this for real?

There has been a post similar to this before, featured a 1000SEL or somesuch. I gather these models are genuine and are marketed in Asia. They do not have 10 litre engines, though!

I know, next time why don't you go up to the guy and ask him if he has seen the guy with a E2000 badge. ;)

Eberhard Weilke 04-12-2002 12:10 PM

They are not genuine...

...take some badges of A 140, for example, a E-class badge and you can puzzle down whatever you want

Kind regards
Eberhard

looks to me as that car is from India.. by looking at the liscence plate. First I thought it was Armenian... but then I would suspect its Indian. Kinda like the 1000SEL w126:D

Looks like he's ready to take a long drive down a short pier:D

Maybe it's a 1 liter (1000 milliliter) engine.

A friend of mine...

...put down on his trunk the stock 300 E on the left side and a short D3 on the right side of the lid. His car got the catalytic converter update of Paul Wurm installed, his '89 car now meets the emissions standards of '97 new cars. With now lack of performance, by the way.

The remaining "00" of the 300 D badge now is attachted to the left side of my computer screen. Makes sens, since it runs on windows

Kind regards
Eberhard

Snibble,

That car is a Thailand registered car. The badging is obviously redone to the owner's taste. Somehow, ever since the badge had omitted the joining bar, there have been people who change the badge designation to their taste. For example, I have seen a S320L rebadged as a SDE320S, because that combination is the licence number of the car.

Well, to each his own..... ;)

Maybe I will rebadged my car to 100D.......

I always wanted to rebadge my car, when it deserves it. :) hehe

Say for instance I were to transplant a c36 engine into the car. I would then badge it CE36 with ///AMG on the right. :) But only if it had that done. otherwise its staying debadged, because it just looks clean.

Howdy All,
I wonder what I could rebadge the Mog?¿ Maybe 4041!¡ Or 19614041:eek:

I still think there is a possibility that this designation is genuine in some market place, somewhere in the world. Note that the vehicle is a long wheelbase E-Class.

Having said that, I have searched the Asian MB sites and done a google search on "Mercedes-Benz E1000" and come up with nothing.

Where did the picture come from?

Kimble....

...is a guy who, for very good reasons, is behind bars after he ripped of some investors in Germany. Total whacko.

There is now E 1000 badged by Mercedes Benz. There has been the Audi 4000 and 5000, which have been plain Audi 100 and 80 in the rest of the world.

Mercedes passenger cars do have the letter of the class (A, C, E and the other vitamins) and a three digit number, which used to be a tenth of the engine replacement in ccm.

That was weakend when they started putting the eight cylinder into the W 109 with the 300 SEL 6.3; 300 SEL 3.5 and 300 SEL 4.5

Kind regards
Eberhard
