Then answer the simple question. If John Q Public is irritated by someone, should he too get the benefit of the doubt when he gets punched if you were a cop. IOW, if I punched someone and told you, the officer that showed up "He called me a bad name.", would you let me go? If not, it is double standard. If so, fair enough.

I haven't personally but from extrapolation based on other injuries, I'll accept it does hurt and avoid it.

I doubt it. I've seen too many people getting hit in a bar fight only to do the same silly thing to believe it will happen. A few will learn from watching others, a few more will learn from getting hit. Most, probably not.
