In your eyes.....
PSA here, based on dealing with Yet Another Vitrectomy.....
Boys and girls, please - protect your peepers. Been dealing with chronic iritis since I was in me yoot. Done gone and done everything my stupid yootful brain was willing/able to deal with.... which translates into Not Nearly Enough. Fast forward from the mid-seventies to two weeks ago..... Series of events leads to me getting ill Saturday night before last (in simple terms: praying to the porcelain gawds because I let my blood sugars get too low). Net effect is that I'm seeing double out of my left eye once I stand tall and proud from the porcelain receptacle. Long story short: decades of inflammation beating the crap out of tissues in my left eye translate into lens implant put in place in 2004 is... no longer in place post vomit induced strains on eyeball. Awesome eye doc confirms my suspicions, surgery date is set. Complications due to aforementioned chronic issues = less than ideal side entry. Contents of left eyeball extracted, newfangled lens implant and synthetic vitreous humor laid in place. And now I wait. And whine, because it f'n hurts. A bunch. So - my advice to y'all: do whatever, whenever, and every time..... to make sure those two precious orbs inside your silly face stay intact. In Your Eyes

I had a bout of Iritis in one eye after a YAG laser treatment. It hurt worse than gout and gout is a bltch pure and simple. Docs treatment was to blast it wide open for TEN DAYS. Fully dilated all the effing time along with antibiotic and steroid drops. It did the trick, the steroids took the pain away almost overnight, but once he took me off the dilation drops it took about two weeks for the pupil in that eye to close back down and get in sync with the other one.
My biggest issue is self-inflicted. Due to scar tissue from allergies there is only one kind of contact that I find comfortable. Extended wear night and days. I get lazy and don't take them out until they cause irritation. I've had a couple of infections as a result and now have the spousal unit nag me every two or three days to take them out and give the eyebones a rest.

Yup, I have those extended wear contacts . . . eye doc explained it this way . . . sure you can wear underwear non-stop for a month, or you could wash them every week . . . what do you think is better?

I've described it as jackboots marching inside my eyeball.... pausing to kick the front of the globe every third beat. Is a non-trivial contributor to my having developed the ability to tell my brain to ignore chronic pain up to what are apparently ridiculous levels.
