waxing the bimmer is intoxicating.............

I washed my dad's 528i today, and a little while ago decided i wanted to wax the rear bumper.(when he parks at work that is the only part that sticks out in the sun, so it needs to be waxed 2-3x as often as the rest of the car). I waxed the bumper, and decided, while i'm at it, i'll wax the rear deck-lid. Then i decided, i'll wax the trunk. Then i thought "i dont remember waxing the mirrors last time", so i went to wax those. I then felt the roof of the car, and while it was smooth, it wasn't glass, so i waxed it. Then i thought, why stop here, lets wax the hood. So on and so forth. When i finished i had waxed everything but the aprons on the car. I think i need help. After i got done waxing i saw the wheels, and around the valve stem cap there was alot of dirt, so while i was at it............... good greif. I have a love affair with a bimmer, i could see my benz getting jealous on the other side of the garage, even though i just waxed it last week..... is there a 12 step program????
Ryan

If there is a program, count me in.

I hate the tedious work of waxing, yet I cannot keep myself from doing it.

Put me down for the 12-step program.

I can't seem to help myself from waxing.

Even when I say to myself, "I'll just go in the garage and wax the horizontal surfaces." Then, I'll get some wax on the A pillar and C pillar, then do those. When doing the hood, it's unavoidable that some wax will get on the fenders, so I do those. After doing the trunk lid, I'll invariably get some wax on the rear quarter panels, then wax those. After stepping back, I notice that the only parts of the car left are the doors and the front and rear bumpers, so I go ahead and finish the car! I can't tell you how many times I've done this. In fact, I don't think I ever successfully waxed just the horizontal surfaces. Not once.

i hear ya benzman, it took me a month before i washed the SD when i first got it, the interior was so beat up and it needed so much work i always told myself it was a better use of my time to work on the lighting, sunroof, windows etc. I highly recomend you wash/wax it though, you will be amazingly suprised at how much better you feel about the car. Even crap paint on these old quality cars seems to come to life after a good wash/wax. Do yourself a favor and detail the old girl next weekend, i can guarantee you'll say to yourself "damn! my car looks gooooood!"

i guess you have a point there, but i'll still bet it looks better after you wash it. Then you can clean up the wheels etc, and when the wheels are clean it gives a whole new dimension to your ride
Just my opinion, she sure could use some paint though!

Dan,I'm of the school of thought that says you should save your energy until you get your new Merc.Imagine doing such a good job you decide to pass on the new motor and keep the beemer!!!!!!
Whatever you do it can't be as bad as the guy I used to work with Sid(old cowboy builder)We'd just painted the interior of someones house and had some stuff left over, now I swear the next bit is true.Being a bit of a bodger Sid wanted to tart up his car on the cheap!! step one fill holes with water based filler
step two paint entire vehicle with white emulsion(another water based product)apply with roller and brush!!step three:drive home just as it starts raining!! His mate was driving the 30 or so miles home behind him and told me he just followed the white trail!!Needless to say he didn't try that stunt again.Ahh Essex boys.Bear

Howdy All,
I don't know about a 12 step program but I have a 1 step program that will cure you or kill you When the Mog restoration is done you can come over and wax IT
