Benz Pics in OD, oh my. (Car Show Pics)

Weekend before last was the Arthritis Foundation Car Show in Dublin, in Columbus. Figured I would post the Benz pics first, if people care to see them, I'll add the other pics I took in subsequent posts. It was a good show, I heard numbers around 800 cars. But MBCA generally gets a weak turn out, I would say this year was very good for the club and figured I'd post up some Benz content!

From the end of the day, but when was the last time you saw three 190s together.

Nice. The 190 SL, the once unloved ugly little brother to the fabulous 300 SL is finally coming into its own with prices over 100K for nice ones.

You'd be the first person I've ever heard call them ugly. Lacking power for sure, but ugly?

Love all the SL's obviously but I also like the white Mustang and yellow Camaro resto mods.

Yowza that's a lot of old SLs! Beauties too, I certainly wouldn't say they are ugly.

I'd sure like to drive one of those SL190 survivors. Only remember seeing one in our neighborhood growing up. Neat looking cars.

Not that long ago you could get a 190SL for next to nothing. Maybe I should buy a 380SL...

Nice pix btw.

The proper nomenclature is 190SL.

Rosemarie Nitribitt owned one back in the day. Rosemarie Nitribitt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The reason you only saw one when you were growing is that they were expensive limited production cars. The factory only made around four thousand specimens a year. In Europe there was a long waiting list, and some countries imposed a huge tarrif as well.

People love to malign them, but they don't realize they were never sold as a sports car. Except for the crappy Solex PHH carbs, they make a wonderful Sunday driver. I run 40DCOE Webers on mine, simply because I was paranoid the damn Solex carbs were going to leak and catch it on fire.

Man those pagodas are soooo nice - I just need my own Mrs Robinson to drive me around in one. (Even though I'm getting a bit long in the tooth for that sort of thing)
