Jesse Ventura Wins $1.8M Verdict Against Estate of "American Sniper"

Jesse Ventura awarded $1.8 million in suit against

On the sixth day of deliberations, the federal jury decided that the 2012 best-selling book defamed Ventura in its description of a bar fight in California in 2006. Kyle wrote that he decked a man whom he later identified as Ventura after the man allegedly said the Navy SEALs “deserve to lose a few.”

:oJesse needs a new wardrobe. Old stuff too big.
Looks like a case of he said/she said right down the line. I have no opinion. I wasn't there. Did I hear correctly that this trial was in Minnesota?

Where have all the soldiers gone?.....
.....Gone to the Court House just this one......

Dunno. If he bad mouthed me in print that bad, some of his money could come my way it'd be OK by me.

If ventura has any class ( fat chance ) he will donate every bit of that money to charity. He wouldn't have made a wart on Chris Kyles neck.

Exactly why again? This went to trial, Kyle, and hence the estate lost. I sue you, I win. Money is mine to do with AS I SEE FIT. I didn't go through all that trouble and legal expense to donate it all to charity. Did charity take up the case for him? If not, he don't owe them the proverbial red cent

Guess you are like many others. "If I don't like the court outcome, I don't respect it.".

Sorry, he won fair and square. No theft involved.

First sentence I agree with wholeheartedly.

He sued some widow for her deceased husbands comments, possibly stretching the truth. Does anyone remember where he got his FAME? I just hope that many of those who have purchased tickets to any of the lies that he was part of selling in the "professional wrestling" show bring suit to him. He was a seller of lies for most of his career! Or maybe all of his career, after all he went into politics after crafting his art in wrestling.

Interesting observations....but that does not give one the right to lie about someone in public.

I don't follow so help me out here. His widow is whom again? IIRC, it was his wife. That means she shares in whatever it is he has and is responsible for his debts too. If I won a million dollar lottery, my wife has half if we divorce and all if I die. So if I have debts, they go for her if I die after winning the lottery and vice versa. So what is it you expect? You sue his estate.

The court disagrees with you. Either respect the court whichever way it rules or not. This is cherry picking

I don't remember hearing that his widow claimed that it actually happened "the knock down". After all he has derived all of his fame from falsehoods, unless you believe pro wrestling is real.

The only answer that I have to that is, what portion of that book sales was due to the fact that he may have trumped up one chapter. Then what harm was done to him (Jessie the Body) by that trumped up charge. Did he loose 1.8mil in ticket sale s to a fraud show that he was no longer able to commit? By that I do not mean ending his political career. Sorry lefties, that is another one that needed to go.

davidmash 07-31-2014 11:08 PM

Can someone explain to me what his past acts as an actor/entertainer in wrestling has to do with the snipers lie in a book?

Since when has wrestling been advertised as real? Ventura is no more guilty of lying than Michael Douglas or Adam Sandler.

I have a hard time seeing how this verdict is political. Jessie was an independent and I believe you will find that D's did not find him to their liking.
