Interesting. It is very common around here even if you are doing the speed of traffic.

Drivers are entitled anywhere you go. Get push bumpers for the little darlings.

I just lift off the gas, let them close the gap a bit, then speed up, repeat. The changing distance is generally disconcerting enough to them that they either detach or pass.

Drive OVER the speed of traffic and problem is solved.

The definition of either a tailgater or one who passes inappropriately or more likely both. Rude, either way.

Picky, picky, picky. Next you will tell me that you can get ticketed or even locked up. :D There is no pleasing some people.

What would you consider inappropriate passing?

mooning the other driver.
though that does necessitate right lane passing for best results, unless you have an old mail vehicle or british car

Depends on what the ass looks like. It might be appropriate if it is a nice one.

Not just cops. Governors' drivers, too. I posted this two years ago but want to share it again:

Was heading downtown on the interstate one evening with very little traffic. I normally run about 10 miles over the posted speed. A black Suburban with state plates blew by me 25 MPH over the limit. I recognized the front seat passenger as our very own governor, The Honorable (or dishonorable, depending on what you believe) Nikki Haley. So I happily jumped in line behind her to take advantage of this "free speeding opportunity." When I caught up to them, I determined they were doing 90 or a little better in a 65 MPH zone. Whipped out my phone and filmed a few seconds of our drive, making sure to get my speedo and her state government vehicle license plate in the frame.

I don't know if she had a right to be travelling faster than the speed limit. I think not, but haven't done my research.

I _almost_ wanted to be pulled by the local cops. I would have paid my ticket if her driver was also cited.

My wife calls me a $hit stirrer. Maybe she's right.

ex-Governor Corzine had his driver crash while speeding down the Parkway in NJ. Governor wasn't wearing a seat belt, either and was pretty badly hurt. Dumbassery seems to run in that family -- he caused $1.5 billion to "go missing" from a firm he managed, and his addict son OD'ed and died a few months ago.
