He can't do anything with your bank number other than wire money to you, and the transaction is a bank to bank transfer. Banks do it millions of times a day.

I sold a car to a person in Europe, they wired the money, they arranged shipping, I sent the title with the transport co.
It was a seamless deal.
If I was buying a bike overseas or in town, I would want some proof of I.D. so it matches the title on the bike. It sounds completely legit to me.

I dunno. Don't personal checks have routing and account numbers on the bottom? Could one perhaps make up bogus checks if you had the numbers, the name, and address?

But usng a new account with nothing in it is a good idea. Receive the money using it, take it out and shut it down.

That is a smart idea but it may also put you on some watch lists at your bank. Be sure you tell them what it is for. The guy buying the car will also need your bank's swift code if its an international wire. I still think its very fishy.

I'm not saying it's absolutely a scam, but I'd be disinclined to continue such a transaction. When I sell stuff it's always in person and cash only.

Not looking good for this deal. The guy seems like a great guy but the deal doesn't seem to be worth the extra effort.

My Nigerian buddy said it sounds too iffy for him. He also said to never trust Nigerians. Who can you trust?

My state won't even issue a title for a bike this old. Need a title to export to Europe.

I'm following up on other calls. Thanks for bouncing the idea around anyway.

You would need an agent in Europe (*nudge*) and sell the bike as a "parts vehicle", in pieces, if it doesn't have a title. Otherwise, a title can be obtained through an agent.

Thanks. I suggested the parts vehicle route as an option to him earlier and he has an exporter he works with in the US. He wants a title.

Local people seem paranoid about having no title. Just call the state and ask.

The bike can be titled but not in this state. It would have to be titled in another state and that is where the extra effort becomes unrewarding.

The buyer sounds ok to me. I dunno about the title thing so no suggestions there.

I sold my old Ferrari to a fellow in England. He wired the money to me. I had to give him tracking and account numbers for the transfer.

I received it in one account and immediately transferred it to another so it could not be sucked back. After notifying him that the money had been received about a week or so later they came by with a large transporter truck. (filled with interesting cars).

Living on a pretty steep hill it was a treat getting the Ferrari with no brakes onto the transporter without damaging it or any other cars!

It's really hard to say. I had a 63 300 SE for sale, and I put it on the internet. The only serious interest i had was a guy from the Netherlands. I had to jump through some hoops, he had a broker examine pictures of the title, and several places on the car he wanted to see, and the wire transfer arrived, he sent 500 by paypal before hand as a sort of earnest money.
I was nervous about the whole deal, and it took 2 weeks before a flatbed arrived, but the deal did take place.
