When someone cuts me off in traffic? I'd say 280/115

Let me rephrase that: isn't the 280 a (w)114?

It's easier for me to control when not on-the-road, or at the doctor's where it's usually elevated!
I started taking BP Meds about 2 months ago because I needed an operation that the VA would not do unless My BP was down.

My BP is not bad when I am by Myself but the "White Coat Syndrome" as they called it gets Me when I am in any sort of Clinic; even though I used to work in Hospitals (maybe I know too much).

My present plan is to stay on the Meds and start exercising and try to bring the BP down.

I have also been trying to keep Myself from getting angry. I keep trying to tell Myself I am more important than what I am doing.
I had started taking a Steroid one Week before starting the BP Med and I had a bad reaction mixing them. So I stopped taking the Steroid.

I also found out that part of the Headaches I thought were Sinus Headaches must have been from the high Blood Pressure.

What were/are your BP numbers? Do you have a home BP device?

What is your age, and are you overweight?

Did you have the surgery done yet at the VA?

Do you, or are you able to physically exercise? i.e. walk two miles at a time?

FYI:
I have found that if my sleep is being disrupted, i.e. not getting enough sleep - my BP is elevated.

I have found that if my alcohol and or sugar (desserts) intake is above -0- my BP may be elevated.

Three things.
Lose weight, eat real food, exercise.

10% weight loss gives a measurable improvement in BP.

Salt (sodium in all forms) is a killer. Real food has more potassium than sodium. Watch the ratio. Eat more greens, without so much added salt. Don't eat fat that has been through a machine.

Less sitting and lying. Swimming is great but I gave it up because my pool was not maintained to standards. Raking leaves is perfect, get a job.

The fourth would be to watch what you are breathing. Exhaust fumes and chemicals, dust from tires, machines, pollen while cutting grass or raking, all bad.

Aging white males often commit suicide. Don't do it slowly. Live well and die quick. Live fast and die fast.

Good advice. Also consider avoiding processed foods. They're laced with sugar and chemicals and many of the ingredients come from China.

Benazapril is your friend. According to Walmart I'm in good shape. Don't drink, don't smoke, rarely eat red meat, down to 230 lb from 275 lb. feeling good.

WalMart? You mean the chair thing that some cheap old fart is always sitting in taking his BP? For god's sake scrape up 40 bucks and get a monitor for home use. Those store meters are notoriously unreliable.

98/60. Down 10 points since going to a high fat low carb diet 3 months ago. My doctor is dumbfounded after warning me about the dangers of my diet.
