Bike riding a couple of times/week. The intent is to keep walking without a walker - forever or until I die whichever comes first.
I wish I would kept a walker I had, instead of giving it away. It was collapsible too. They're pricey for what they are.

I usually go 4-5 times a week but I haven't been since Monday. This afternoon is going to hurt.

Recovery time is important. Perhaps you already know this, but you should give each muscle group at least a day off between workouts. I do work for a married couple, both champion weightlifters, who are personal trainers to the rich and famous here in Silicon Valley. I was talking with the guy once about recovery time and he said 'it's really easy to F up.'

Says that some muscle groups need four or five days between workouts. Who knows, I do know that he's about 58 and built better than most men are at any time in their life.
I usually take the seven days and split it up between the upper and lower body. Few days focusing lower, few days focusing upper. That is true, lifting too much I have seen guys ruin their back and shoulders.

What do you mean you can't go? The gym only takes an hour out of your day and gyms like Planet Fitness are only $10.00 a month.

College gyms are great, that's what I used for years. The 18 year olds acting like Hans and Frans get old though.

The young kids (teenagers up to early 20s) are the ones in my gym acting like Hans and Franz (we're gonna pump you up!), preening around in the free weights area.

Hmmm, we have a few of those at my local place.

Honest question here - how are you guys able to use a treadmill or stationary bike for an hour?? Gets sooo boring after 5 minutes of no scenery moving? (well, landscape, the gym has other good scenery).

I don't know how anybody else does it after 5 minutes. I have a treadmill in my garage and never touched it more than 4 times. I run to the gym instead of use the treadmill. Get in adequate cardio on the way there and back. Yah, at my place there's a few young guys that are very annoying, but not as bad as the LA Fitness. Most part it's mid-twenties and thirties. Not a lot of high schoolers which is awesome.

A. Watch tv.
B. Read.

These are tough to do once you get above a certain level of effort, so I usually stay on the treadmill for a shorter time at a higher level of effort. Sometimes though I'll hit the stationary bike for 40 or 45 minutes and spend the first 30 or so reading a book while putting out a pretty moderate effort.

I do about 36 minutes and watch hgtv while I am doing it. They always have some nice looking women on that channel.

On my 45 minute swim all I have is thinking about various projects and what not.

I do 30 minutes on the treadmill. I wear headphones and listen to music on the iPhone. I enter my weight on the treadmill, and it calculates calories. I keep my eye on the calories burned and distance run.

There is also a row of televisions hanging down from the ceiling with the captions on, and sometimes I look at what's on CNN, ESPN, etc.

I still hate doing cardio, but the combination of listening to music, keeping track of distance and calories, and watching tv helps time go by.
