Android Flaw Exploited; iOS and Windows Possible As Well

Researchers Hack Android Apps With Up TO 92 Percent Success Rate, Windows And iOS Also May Be Vulnerable

Researchers from the University of California Riverside have discovered a flaw in the Android operating system, that allows them to hack most Android apps between 82 and 92 percent of the time.

The way they accomplish this is by having the user install a malware-infected app, and then taking advantage of the shared memory of the apps to steal information from other apps, thereby completely bypassing Android’s permission and sandboxing security system.

Anybody with the right bit of knowledge can break a system.

Theres plenty of flaws in Android to exploit both for the app developer and the consumer. The question is what are you going to do about it? My carrier has no clue how much data I'm using. Are they going to push an update on my Android 4.4 to try and fix it? LOL good luck with that.

If that's possible, that's the carrier's fault -- data should be metered by the carrier not by the device itself.

The carrier is dependent on the device to figure out the amount of data its using and more importantly how that data is used. Always has been. There are several methods the carrier can work this out. Unfortunately pure Android (unmolested by the carrier) is infinitely configurable.
