Exactly !! More people should use the blockers as a protest against inconsiderate asswholes who put their head in your lap.

Instead of whinging about the alpha-hotels, but a more expensive seat. There's a reason why flights are generally so cheap.

Man, at 6'5" that's got to suck. I can barely find enough room for my legs (if not an exit row).

The issue we have with trains in/from the Northeast is there are so many freaking stops. I've taken the train to Philly numerous times. I took the Acela once because it was going there when I need to go, and it only saved 15 minutes over the regular train thanks to the number of stops and speed limits. Legroom, power outlets, wifi, ability to walk around at will, reasonable time through security. I enjoyed it and it beat the heck out of dealing with the traffic in NYC and Philly. I can see the benefits of long distance train travel once you get out of the congestion, and antiquated rail system, of the Northeast.

The normal train from NYC to DC still makes the run in 3:15-3:30 and costs under $50 if you pre-book. No way you can drive, take the bus, or fly between central NYC and downtown DC in that time.

Or are you talking about the NYC-Philly local train, where you have to change in Trenton, and it then stops at every podunk between Trenton and Philly (15 stops or so)?

Last flight I took was around $250 for cattle, and $1500 for fancy seating. So, not exactly an option.

Some airlines have "economy plus" which had the same seat width but large pitch. Though I wonder if there would be a market for an airline with larger economy seat pitch and fares that are 1.25 to 1.5 times other airlines' cattle classes. 6-12" extra, reducing capacity by 20-30% would make a big difference.

I would have paid $500 to have the seat in front of me removed

Ooops, sorry....

Sometimes they ge the hint, sometimes not. but I do get some satisfaction knowing that they are getting bumped around.

Fault really lies with the carrier, if you are going to jam people in, don't let the seats recline.
Im 6'3" and I do the same thing. If you are going to make me uncomfortable then you will join me.

I also.agree that it's the airline fault for craving the seats in like they do.

Not trying to play a card - but a 6'5 mideastern/indian person a bit angry on aircraft can even cause it to be diverted - jus sayin' - SO I have to be very calm at all times.

otherwise my clearance time can go from 10 minutes to 5 hours.

Cos a lot of people are just rude selfish dumbasses.

If I were the CEO of the airline I'd have been a lot harder on this idiot than was apparently the case. Considering the inconvenience it caused a large number of other people I'd have sued the for any related costs incurred for starters.

I agree that airlines should ban such devices and make it plain to passengers that anyone attempting to use one will be ejected forthwith at cost.

What about the F/A taking the guy's seat and making him stand at "time out" for an hour till he promises to behave? No emergency landing needed.

Make the devices illegal or lock all seats upright. End of problem

I'm sure that there are plenty of folks who use these blockers on the seat in front of them before the recline their own seat and crush the persons knees behind them.

NYC-Philly via Berlin to New Haven and every efffing stop along the CT shoreline on the way to NYC. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy train travel when I take it. Just wish there was an express between the stations that skipped all of the platform stops.
