They should have orgy seating. Do away with the seats and grease up everyone at the door. If the kids can't play nice then take away the seats.

My advice is this:

Have things changed that much since the early 90's? Last time I was on that airport/rental car/hotel hamster wheel.

I wonder. How big are you people and can you really not function with seats reclined in front of you? Is it a body mass issue?

It is kinda sad to hear. I grew up on airplanes back in the early sixties and got to see the Golden Age. Flying was a luxury.
Ahh, Life is like a voyage on the Titanic. So you might as well fly FIRST CLASS !!!!

It is nice; though in the old days, the "First Class" section used to seem that it was full of loudly crying babys smoking very expensive cigars!

Me too - I have run up over 32k since June of '13 on just the new BMW alone.

And that is ONLY pleasure miles. Mostly in Nevada/California/ other Western states..

And I DON'T get padlocks cut off my luggage/have to take off my shoes and belt and get wanded and barked at by those surly constipated TSA goons either, like at airports.

Isn't it fun when children behind you kick the beat of your seat over and over in a ceaseless drumbeat, too?

I stopped airline flying after the 911-circus when the ineffectively silly Kabuki theater 'Security' started.
In most cases driving is more comfortable, more enjoyable, much less expensive, and a lot less hassle than flying in a cattle car.
The only place I fly is in Northern Canada where domestic airport security is reasonable and prudent.

I have two jobs. One of them is local. The other one requires travel anywhere from once to a few times a year. For a while, they had me going to the Seattle area, which is a bit far for a one day drive, and I always had to fly. Some changes happened, and now they tend to have me go to San Diego, which is an easy one day drive. Since that change, I've gone down there twice. I drove the first time and flew the second time. I think I'll be driving in the future as long as they'll let me.

An introduction into the future of airtravel has a replacement for seating passengers into a semi seating ,semi standing position ,it has a real possability of becoming reality for some shorter cummutied air travel. I hope people take a better look at speed rail when this arrives ,the air industry has alot of high flying friends in Washington to X out any chance of it taking form in the United States.

Unless you bought the ticket for the seat in front of you, you have no say over how the person who did uses it.

If you put a set of blockers on my seat, they would be removed, and you with them.

This has been talked about for the past 2-3 years, starting with Ryanair's (aka Charva-trash Air's) CEO yammering about it. No US airlines appear to the interested in the idea, and I'd imagine that it would be slow to win FAA approval. The US is pretty risk-averse and lawsuit-friendly.

IMO, most people don't fly unless they have to anymore.
I think most of this is due to the excessive security procedures and extra time associated.
With that, I think the airlines could easily raise ticket prices and put the luxury back into flying by making the seats more reasonable. Those people who need to fly still will.

Hasn't that always been the case? I suspect that more American families still fly to most of their vacation destinations over 6-800 miles, not stay-cations.

Over the past 13 years, I think that most of the folks that have used airports and airlines have adjusted pretty well. There are times when I find myself behind some passenger with $20 worth of change in his pockets and wearing a rodeo belt buckle, but that's a rare situation rather than the rule.

Unless I'm mistaken, the airlines still make a big chunk of their money from business travelers, the folks that know how to pack, know how to get in and out of a plane pretty well and know what to expect once at the check-in kiosk or gate. With deregulation and fewer flights, the cabins are already full . . . so why would anyone running an airline want to reduce fairs and carry fewer passengers?

I have to go to Sandy Eggo in mid October for a funeral, and my Sister showed me how Monday and Tuesday are the lest expensive days. It costs less money and a lot less time to fly, so thus my reason. I only fly with a carry on the size of a large briefcase, know the rules, and have a Service Dog, so makes it much easier.

As to the first incident, I feel the airline should have only removed the passenger with the knee blocker. Why remove the victim? The other two seem to have only removed the offender.

I fly like it is a privilege. I dress nice, meaning no crummy jeans, and maybe a sport coat (same for going to a moving picture). I don't jump the line if short and/or if Ember isn't nervous. I treat the officers with respect, even if they aren't the brightest bulbs.

Nothing is a right, especially if it affects others!
