Despite the biatch that it is to fill up 2 jet skis with the obvious price of gas, they are worth every damn penny for the fun they are.

Eh.

Wait till you eat **** jumping wake at high speeds... You will quickly forget how fun they are, and only remember how much pain they can cause.

Control costs by shutting down the engine and just watch the sun go down or look at the stars, soak in the water. With nice people it can be the best. If you can't sit still then sail.

I miss not having a boat and probably will before long. Lighter, easier to trailer, burns less fuel. We have a lake a few miles from the new place.

I have a Penn Yan 26, I also race on an X Yacht 41, I also sail on my friends Voyage 440 cat, currently the plan is to take it from CT to Bermuda in October.

I found a Tiara 3100 for sale with a pair of 5.9 Cummins and I'm currently tire kicking and figuring out how to buy it.

I've got a 21' SeaRay that we use on the CT River when its not a lawn ornament. I have enough seniority to get a slip at the club but I haven't been able to use it much the past few years so I haven't bothered. Hoping to next year.

I've also got a 1959 12' Dolphin Sportboat, which is an aluminum "dual cockpit" runabout made in nearby Manchester, CT (there's a thread here somewhere). It's currently got an early 80's 15hp Evinrude but I'd like to find a '57-59 vintage 15-18hp Johnson for it. I use it mostly on a lake at our Maine cabin for running around and pulling the kids on a tube. The kids are getting bigger so I'll probably pick up another vintage boat in the 16-18' range so I can get them skiing and wakeboarding and retire the Dolphin from towboat duty.

Nice to have family with boats, wouldn't want to own one.

My dad has owned a Forumla 400SS for 11 years. Large 40 foot cabin cruiser shaped like a hot rod with twin 525 500HP engines. So much fun to fly past people at 60 in a boat this large... lots of holy $hit looks from other people.

That's the best way to do it!

Still kinda bummed my parents sold their downriver boat several years ago, while my mom was still alive, to buy a camper and start traveling (not too selfish, am I? ). My dad still has an 18' to play around on the river with but it's not exactly the best option for cruising to Montauk or Block Island. OTOH it's not worth the hassle of dealing with him about everything to bother using it anyway.
