For the sake of accuracy I consulted the archive and did some research. Had been a while since I heard either of them. The Detroit song is passable but both bands strike me as presenting an industrial product more than they are playing music.

But I'm an old folky, bound to not like them much. Some of my fondest memories are playing guitar and drums around fires up in the hills. The music is more of a human scale in such settings.

almost certainly a troll piece to generate hits and comments, nearly everyone on that list has had some to ungodly amounts of success,...but they suck, or are not "good" musicians. knowing tons of scales/chords/modes does not necessarily make you a good or great musician, being able expressing yourself with what skills you have does IMHO

I had no idea all of the music I like sucked so bad! At least ZZ Top got a pass from them. Perhaps an oversight.

On a related note to the OP, the Mrs. and I took my DD and a friend to see Ed Sheeran at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA last night (venue is a nightmare to get out of!). I wouldn't go so far to say that I'm fan now, but I gotta say, I was very impressed with the kid's talent. Essentially a one man band (playing what I guess is pop-ish folk with some occasional rapping?) with a couple of amplified acoustic guitars. Starts off each song by singing some backup vocals, guitar riffs and beats on the guitar that he records while onstage and plays back while singing the lyrics and playing along with the guitar. With the encore, it was nearly two hours of just him, the lights, some video screens and the guy that rotated the guitars for him, often during a song depending on the sound he was looking for (and of course, the guys running the mixer and videos). Even with me only having heard a couple of his songs that have "made it", that two hours passed pretty quickly despite my less-than-enthusiastic attitude going into it.

I'm too old at 43 to really "get it", but the kid has some wide and varied talent and knows his audience! It didn't suck at all, even with not getting home until 1:15 this morning. How's that for a review?
