Necessity is the mother of invention...

And yeah, this works.

But as lax as this guy was around the end, I kept thinking about what happens if he accidentally bumped his leg against the point...very cringe-worthy thought.

He talks a lot about setting it up, so jump to the five minute mark if you want to see the action.

Considering the gas, time and effort he has to put in to fell, cut, haul and split all of that wood to heat his "poorly insulated" house; you'd think he'd get right on that insulation issue!

Given the risks involved in each step of the process, it doesn't seem too shaky. Those rotary wedges have been used for a long time (and seem infinitely safer than those wheel of death splitters) and he at least has some sort of safety system in place.
