Personally I found some of her material funny. There is no current replacement for her out there currently or on the horizon that has the same approach. At the same time I realize some may have disliked her approach to comedy..

I just have to give credit for some of her apparent originality. Crude but very effective and seemingly original material..

Although it had crossed my mind not long ago as to how long she could go on even though obviously driven to do so. Lines like you could not keep a certain ladies knees together even with crazy glue made me chuckle.

From having know a few people, elderly people, who went in for routine medical things and wound up in a coma I figured she was not long for this world. When you start hearing things like, "She is resting in her own room after being moved out of ICU....."

I have been told that several times by doctors concerning friends of mine that passed away.

But she was 81. I have always heard that when a young person dies that is a tragedy. When an old person dies that is just a part of life.

I have been following this as I'm a fan of her and all the comedy greats of her generation brought up through Johnny Carson.

One of my favorite jokes was about her late husband. He had a heart attack and she blamed herself because they were having sex and she took the bag off her head.

Hilarious and on stage/TV up until a few days before dying at a ripe old age. I'm sure she would be happy about that.

My 85 year old Grandmother has a boy toy (don't know what else to call him) that is pushing 90. Last year he chose to have quadruple bypass surgery despite enormous risks. He would rather be dead than have a low quality of life along with a ticking bomb in his chest. Came through just fine.

My grandmother has had 2 husbands and 2 boyfriends die on her already.

A great comedian. I loved her stance on not being PC.

At one time a woman was calling my wife several times a week at about two in the morning. After several times of her asking if she was available. I told her she was as soon as I rolled off. The late night calling stopped.

I'm sure Joan would have liked the jokes. I read today that jokes were her therapy. Such as right after her husband committed suicide, she was dining at a restaurant and exclaimed if her husband was alive to see these ridiculous prices he would have killed himself again.

Only she would joke about that, and her non-existent sex life. Her G-spot was declared a historical landmark.

Actually for myself to get any of the daughters going all I had to do was just vaguely mention something about their mother and myself. They all knew parents do not have sex of course.

One of my favorites was telling them if asked in some obscure way. More or less when we last got it on. I at least once responded with what time is it now?

Some of us still drive cars as well. Perhaps not as fast or as often as at one time. Actually sexual activities at older ages will vary a lot I suppose. Use it or lose it has some validity as well. One thing that is absolutely required is to never present the image of a dirty old man. .

Among the older set a lot may depend on their state of general health too. Why do you think women in general mostly try to put forth the younger image? They in my opinion feel that's where the action is I suspect. Or at least a component of seeing some.

It must be hell for a still fairly healthy male to be stuck in a nursing home though. Actually for quite a span of time in advanced middle age I was frequently hit on by women.

Since I was not interested because of the complications these things generate for one reason. I usually got off the hook gracefully by telling them I was gay. They seemed to accept this easily as a rejection. None offered to convert me that I remember.
