Alfa Romeo USA

Weekly Recap: Alfa Romeo's US plans take shape - Autoblog

Alfa has a new head man in North America, and he's armed with an ambitious plan. It now makes sense why FCA boss Sergio Marchionne has been adamant he won't sell Alfa

I hope this car is good. Mazda upset the sports car world with the Miata and they had the Mazda name.

This is Alfa's big chance at a comeback. They have the name and so far everything I have read about this has been positive.

But will it survive contact with the real world?

The 4C seems targeted at the Lotus Exige/Evora, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Jaguar F Type. Pretty tough crowd.

I haven't seen any 4C's on the road yet but from the pictures they look gorgeous. Any day one will turn up driving around here at this point.

Ferrari aspirants on a relative budget will rationalize the purchase.

Many years ago I looked at buying a Dino. I think it was a 1972 or 73.

I passed because it was just not that much fun to drive. Not next to a 911, anyway, at least not for me.

Now Dino's are big bucks. I guess it is that Ferrari nameplate.

I think the fact the Alfa is new will push a few units out the door, but if it is not fun to drive then all the posers in the world will not make it a success.

But I do agree with your comment.

And....

I hope Alfa has moved away from that arms extended driving position. I never could figure that out.

And the US version of the 4C is only 342lb heavier.
The U.S.-Spec Alfa Romeo 4C Is 342 Pounds Heavier

I hope a couple of those extra LB are in the form of a fire extinguisher. You know, because Alfa.

I was at the track Monday and they were running around the new F type, sounded way better than the M3 and scooted!

I never drove an Alfa, and that includes the Milano, the GTV and the Spider that did not have a seating position where I had to hold my arms out like I was holding on to an explosive device. This might have had to do with being very tall and needing to pull the seat back far enough that my knee did not hit the bottom of the dash.

I ran into the same thing on the Jensen-Healy except there I also had to cram my size 14's into a space on the right side of the steering shaft in order to work the clutch.

I had a 69 Berlina sedan in college. Same color as this one. I think I paid about 2K for it.
