Helping with a roof (part 2)

Hey All -

We're one big family on here, and one of our family members is in need. JPLinville has been battling health issues, and has been in and out of the hospital several times this year. On top of that, he's fighting an up-hill battle with insurance, diabetes, and now the roof on his house. The roof is starting to leak, and it needs to be fixed before the snow come this winter and causes more damage.

As some of you may remember, he's fought a few battles in the past, and won! He fought and beat his smoking addiction, fought and won for more custody of his children, and has been successfully been battling diabetes. Let's come together as a community to help him fight this battle, so he can focus on the more important ones, like his health and family!

I like to give back to this community as much as I can, as it's one of the first forums I've ever joined, and I've met more genuinely good people on here than anywhere else! I've given away rare sets of wheels (AMG/BBS), bought parts for members that were down on their luck to get their cars going, loaned my cars/trucks to members here so they could go buy/pick up parts, inspected cars, towed cars, and even loaned members money to buy cars. I've never been let down, or disappointed by a member here, and want to help Jon out as much as possible.

Anyhow, back on topic, Jon has received bids to fix his roof, and it looks like it's going to cost ~$6440 This is to replace 2 pieces of plywood, fix the leaks, replace drip edges, and to do the repairs to code. This needs be be done as soon as possible, as winter is just around the corner!

As I said before, I'll donate the first $100 to the fund to the the roof fixed. SRJ also mentioned he will be donating $100, so we're off to a good start. I hope that you gents (and ladies) out there can also help contribute if you can.

I've set up a gofundme page for Jon here - Fixing JPLinville's roof by Justin Wrockloff - GoFundMe but if anyone wants to make a donation via check or other means, I've listed my number and email below to help accomidate that.

TIA - Justin

Done did what I could. The fact that it's coming out of my "fix the hemorrhagic roof" bucket is somewhat amusing

I thank you folks for help...I didn't request it. I was talking with someone via email and it seemed to take on a life of it's own .

Since January of this year, I ha e been in the hospital numerous times...the last two times involving life squad. It seems that gravity and I have been arguing, and I'm losing. The last time was a week and a half long visit...its bad when the nurses begin to recognize you.

I'm still waiting on a SSDI hearing...and its been over two years since I filed. Mt LTD policy has stopped paying, because they think I can work...I can't even walk, yet they claim I can be a gate guard. I've started appealing that decision, and in the mean time, I've applied for assistance from the state. Its barely enough to help, but I've paid into since my very first paycheck when I was a young teen...and its time I accept it.

Trust me folks...acceptance of assistance when you've worked your ass off your entire life isn't easy. To avoid it. I sold my truck, and all of my project vehicles

I've sold most of my tools, as well as many of the antiques we collected...just to put food on the table and pay the bills.

My doctor bills are high, but manageable...the roof leaking has put me over the edge.

I appreciate any assistance, but please understand that I didn't ask for it. Those that set this ball on course are true friends...thank you.

SS always denies disability first applications. Get a lawyer who is well-versed in the ways of SS. You will eventually get it. Lawyer gets % of the lump sum. SS will pay a lump sum for benefits since your original application and denial.
Bet persistent
No out of pocket fees to lawyer.

Does anyone know if Skid Row Joe is doing okay? If I recall correctly, he first proposed this roof-related fundraising idea, but it doesn't appear like he has been able to contribute as he planned. He doesn't strike me as the type of person who would fail to honor his word, so I started to get worried that he is ill. He last posted on PP almost a month ago. Maybe his is just traveling or something. I suppose I could also email him but I thought I would check with all of you first. Thanks.

Joe got the boot last time I looked. Glad lil' Larry Jr. is gone with his troll threads about racism and almost getting attacked at the library by suspicious blacks.

And I just got an email telling me my contribution was refunded. Clicked on Justin's link to see if there was an explanation and the campaign is not found.
