Limerock day...

Last Monday I went to the classic car races at Limerock. Other than seeing a real Ferrari 250GTO, XKSS Jag, and Porsche RSK, and two Alfa race cars built by Enzo in 1947 I beleive....lots of other great cars. To many to list. Ruins other car shows for me, nothing can compete with what's on display here. Sir Stirling Moss was also walking around, signing autographs and drove. I'm half surprised I didn't see Jay Leno.

My favorite part was watching the 70's cars race. They had a 427 Corvette Stingray convertible, two Jag XKE's, and a 911 all going at it. Those seem to be the fastest cars of that vintage, the smaller motor cars like the BMW's and MG's get munched on the straights.

Nothing sounds like a 427 with straight pipes putting down probably close to 700hp on race gas, at the top of second flat out!

I love the smell of brakes, 109 octane, and straight pipes!

I went to one of those (or something like that) when I was a kid, probably somewhere around 15 years ago. Definitely an experience I will never forget -- there was some NASCAR division race there too, among many others. Sitting on the first corner people would go flying in and go straight off the track, distinctly remember a mk1 golf flipping through the air. Gotta make it up there someday again. Every year I look forward to the vintage race series at Laguna Seca on TV as well as the Goodwood festival...bucket list stuff. Next time take some pictures!

I NEED to get back to Lime Rock, soon. There's nothing like it. It's been too long, just tough to fit it in the schedule.

This is another acceptable excuse for living in Connecticut, a commuter hell-hole.

There aren't many!

Fortunately for me, my commute is 1/8 mile (although it's temporarily quintupled while we're out of our house).
