Anyone use 3D AutoCAD?
 

Only option for a class project is 3D AutoCAD. :rolleyes: I am an AchiCAd user (missed learning Revit) and been at least eight years since I have used it. The program has all this buttons and menues! :eek: I learned when there was simple, rational buttons, but I really preferred the command bar. So, I actually remember them/coming back to me, so don't have to go hunting in all these bloody menus trying to find what I want.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone on here has recently used 3D AutoCAD. I can't figure out why I can't draw or extrude poly lines on the xz axis.

Oh, and would prefer to hand draft, but the free Mayline I got is missing screws and not sure how to set it up so the axonometrics look good. I can do simple ones, but with all the floors, not sure.

I mean 3D AutoCAD by AutoDesk. It is the only AutoCAD I know of, but could see how Solidworks could also be called that, but architecture has yet to use that.

I can't watch videos because my internet is sold by data used, and I am way over the last two months. When I am on campus will take a look.

I did try numerous searches, but nothing comes up.

A side note. My Dad was taught Solidworks for his new task at SPAWAR. He was going to get a copy for home, but as for most everything, never did.

Yes, it was 2010 version that changed it all. I too learned on a version that was simpler. Now that reminds me, I think I am still Facebook friends with the Professor! I wonder if he help... :thinking:

I pay $10 a gigabit for internet via a wireless device through my cellular telephone provider. Just like Cox, they charge you for the data you use. I hate both Century Link and Cox, so I don't have a land line or land internet. I don't do business with those that don't meet my standards of customer service. ;)

The University provides good internet most of the time. Sometimes it goes down and some rooms are dead zones. But, it is free! :D When I am away from home, I either use the internet where I am staying or especially the case at Vater's, use someone elses that isn't secured (of course don't do private tasks). Because of this I can really get my costs down. Which reminds me, I need to take care of that...

No. I didn't even know there was a program by that name! :P

When one opens AutoCAD, it is top view. Rotate and becomes 3D. This can really mess with the C.N.C. machine if converting 3D to 2D, B.T.D.T.. So if you can, avoid conversions!

I gave up on 3D poly lines for now and just did some re-drafting to make poly volumes, as discovered extruding regular lines causes the shading and rendering to be messy. Trouble is I found some mistakes, but think most of it is due to AutoCAD. Meh, just has to be close! :P :D When and if I draft over it, I bet will not be even noticeable, especially since without it to trace over, I don't know how to do round shapes axonometrically, so they wouldn't look right.
