Crickets

Seems like the glory days of this forum are long gone. Traffic is obviously way down. Less people wanting to mess with these cars. Other active forums with names related to the brand like Benzworld and MBCA forums. Not a major election year. Forum splitting in OD.

Glory days of open discussion?

MBCA forum is just as dead as it ever was, and the technical forums on PP are hopping.

Diesel section is lively as ever here. Gas section is always pretty dead, but this is a diesel forum isn't it?

Not sure why anyone would pay to join MBCA for $50 for 12 months.
BanZWorld is BanZWorld. Same losers, different day. Same mods abusing powers.

I think that we're all just sick to death of the surly churlishness that permeates this forum. Say what you like about Carlton, but he ran a tighter ship and sent the trolls packing.

Yes. Benzless at the moment and I've Been here since January '01 - the political stuff gets old. It's predicable and dull. I like the car discussions and other non political off topic discussions however.

Depends what is offered in your area. North TX has very good incentives. I get substantial discounts at MB dealer. I believe it is something like wholesale +10% or so. We have 6 Tech sessions a year. Three are at MB dealers, 2 are at indies. We can take our cars there for 4 hours (usually 8a-12p) one time last year a Indy let us be there for 8 hrs. We only pay $10 for each tech session. We can use their lifts, they will usually have a few of their techs on site to help with questions and show us what to do. They also allow us to use various specialty tools of theirs. I was able to put new bushings in my lower rear control arms which required a special tool. I have seen people use their MB computers to test out various systems. One guy drained and refilled his active suspension on a 500CL. The tech hooked it up to the computer and made it do the MB dance to get the fluid in al the right places and make sure it all worked out. Never been charged extra for any of the stuff at the sessions. I was even able to get free stuff (diff fluid and trans oil one time). So for us, the MBCA is worth every penny and then some. I have saved lots of money with it.

I've been temped to leave the Benz community many times. There are a lot of cars out there I haven't played with yet.

great post about your experience. I will look at the local group to join after hearing this and being a new E320 CDI owner. PC is correct about Carlton- it was a bad way to end his run and a loss for the whole forum IMHO. I've said more than once OD is not a positive feature and perhaps it is the reason for the crickets. Not my call however, and I enjoy the banter here. It does take my time which might be spent helping other owners.

Traffic down "seems ok" to you? You understand this is a site which operates as a business don't you?
