Thank you for posting this! Very stunning!

B.T.W., if you are such a busy teacher, how do you find time to blog every day?

His work is about the best I have ever seen of the type. Or perhaps it is. The effort to get there has to be intense. Anyways I enjoyed seeing it.

He is probably working in the ho model railway scale. Simply as there is so much available to modify and use in that scale.

Actually, the pics are labelled, the MBZ one is in 1/35th, and the scooter in 1/24th. HO is 1/87th, which is quite a bit smaller. I do a little in 1/32nd, but nowhere near that detailed.

I should have mentioned I have a very small collection of minatures in 1/87 that were well hand crafted by an unknown party.

The better half and myself were on vacation forty years ago and I saw them in a store window. Was having a close look at them and the wife suggested I buy them.

Women do no in general do this as a decent price tag was there with them for the time. After a slight negotiation with the store owner who had them on consignment was completed. Away we went with them.

Never regretted it as they are still a pleasure to look at. The maker did not paint them and instead developed the natural patina of aging that is not that easy to pull off as well as he did. Just contributed to the vintage look. Some would call it weathering. but it is very advanced weathering . A small perhaps three ton 1920s vintage truck with an assorted very detailed load. A steam shovel,,and early bulldozer, plus three ho narrow gauge items including a dummy shay locomotive. The basic foundations obviously where quality kits as a start that the builder really went to work on. Tastful accurate detailing is much harder to do than imagine.

The details overall are pretty much in line with what the subject of the poster was doing other than no diorama effect. I have them in a glass fronted wall mounted shallow walnut case with glass shelving. I fabricated this out of the materials salvaged from an early floor model sterio cabinet. Suprisingly they used solid walnut for cabinets back then sometimes.

I have put a small visable note in the cabinet as well indicating that I did not build these myself. Whoever did and subsequently lost possession does not deserve to have anyone else be assumed as the builder of them.

I felt bad about whoever gave them up. They represent hundreds of hours of work . He may have just passed on though and the family disposed of them. I will never know. I always hoped it was not just he needed the money.

These items stop some guys like myself in their tracks. Especially the ones that realize the endless hours of work required to make them plus the creativity to do so. They are like an art form to me.
