Just saw the A380.
I live about 10 miles south of DFW and I was just walking my dog. Heard a plane approaching. Very different sound. Sounded big but not loud. Look up and see the biggest damn airplane I have ever seen. Qantas just started non stop service to Sydney. According to the news it's the longest commercial flight, 15 hours. Im not sure I could do 15 hours on a plane even in First class. My dad was on the airplane with Air France from LA to Pairs a few weeks ago. He was quite impressed. Service was great. Plane was very comfy and he said the flight was smooth as glass. I must admit I am curious about the plane. I think I would like to be on one at least once. I remember flying a 747 from JFK to Israel when I was out of high school. That was a neat plane.

About 10 years ago I flew Columbia, SC to Malaysia. 30 hours in the air no matter if you flew east or west. I chose west so I didn't have to fly near the Middle East in 2004.
The leg from Chicago to Tokyo was 12 hours. In coach. Pretty brutal. Coming back it was worse because I had picked up a bug somewhere. I don't believe a 15 hour flight is close to the longest. You can fly LA to Singapore on a 20 hour non-stop (God willing) flight. |

I've done Kuwait to the U.S. southeast and vice versa a few times. Even with a refueling stop in Ireland/Germany/Hungary and another in Maine, it's still brutal.

When we flew in to LAX a month ago; there were three A380 in a row; Air China, Qantas and Air Singapore.
Rolling past in our little MD80 they looked the size of buildings. I was astounded. http://s3-blogs.mentor.com/jvandomel...irbus_a380.jpg |
