Blast from the past - (another) what ever happened to? Lost members thread
G'day Folks,
I was wondering what ever happened to some folks who used to be here quite a bit - but now they have gone. It is fair enough - being here isn't obligatory! I'm sure even some people make dreadful mistakes and go off and buy a BMW or an Audi... ...but perhaps some of you know what happened to 1) babymog 2) yak If there's someone you used to notice about who isn't here any more post up their user names and perhaps others will know. |
Dieseldog....from Kentucky, had a 240 d. Swore the 115 cars handled better than the 123 and were lighter. I sold him a used radiator once for a 240.
|
Individual circumstances as well as interests change. Unfortunatly sickness and the grim reaper also can be a factor.
Then someone may have a new lady and horizontal jogging is consuming or replacing the keyboard time. Have to agree the 114s seem at least more agile with the gas engines. Them being lighter than diesel 115s and 123s may be is the reason. Much the same way in my opinion the 240d with a manual box seems lighter handling than a 300d. |
HOrizontal jogging indeed!;)
|
I could do with some of that!

Anyone hear from Petra?

Wvotogo? Used to be very active in OD, was a few folks who shared that, pilots iirc.
Sent from an abacus |
^iirc, he got fed up with OD and cut it loose.
|
I would like to see Brian Carlton reinstated.
|
MBZ'er was one of the most highly regarded members of this forum. I wonder where he went?

BC was pretty cool too.
And to the OP, there was someone on here when I started called "qwerty". I found their posts to be very helpful. I even emailed them once to see how they are doing, but never heard back. And whatever happened to "Army"? That guy was the shiznit. |

Some of these names date way, way back to the OD closure and exodus to the other site. I think of them as the KirkVining clan. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/103577-did-open-discussion-just-disappear.html Quote:

A couple from the 300CE Owner roll of honor....
Ashman? Ernesto aka BenzLGB. The fiery Cuban? I liked that guy.:) Texholdem? He rolled his CE in Texas. It came to rest on its roof after three rolls iirc. Opened the doors and the family all crawled out. Unharmed. Got a pic of that. ;) (Side note: I'd love to know how many 300CEs are still on the road in the US.) I miss BC too...and Craig and Larry and Carlton and SteveBfl. He retired a looong time ago. He knew a lot. An awful lot.;) I've wondered about ChasH from time to time. I have a gut feeling he may have passed on. Vietnam Veteran, US Army Artillery. He told me once he had serious hearing problems. He'd be 70ish about now I reckon. And finally, good old Howitzer: " Hello. My name is Abrams" Loved that. How's it going in East Lansing JR? :D:D |

am a newcomer to the forum, don't post much, particularly in OD for reasons, but after reading the thread so far, I come away with 2 things in particular:
I miss Brian Carlton's posts - he seemed like a solid dude. Whenever Stretch posts, i go 'Army' in my head. |
Y'all remember Bigbenzman and Amanda Love (rip Amanda).
|
Brian was probably the best ever here in his detailed knowledge of how things work, including electrical stuff. He did not suffer fools easily though.;)
