They would be silly not to.

Hope for the best; expect the worst.

Indeed. Can't we all just get along? J/K, I know sometimes that isn't possible.

A long time ago, I used to live about four miles from where the incident occurred. The area has changed, apparently.

The GJ should wait until January to announce its findings. Unless there's a blizzard going on, I think demonstrations are a foregone conclusion should the cop walk free.

Two words: Rodney King.

Not a bad suggestion. I have been there during the winter and it seems to always be cold and snowing/sleeting/raining.

The place is very pretty in the spring, though.

Seems that most demonstrations or rioting occur in warm weather. In my lifetime Detroit, Newark, Watts, the aforementioned LA King reaction have all occurred in warm temps or climates. Recall Occupy Wall Street fizzled out when push came to shove with the law and the winter months set in.
Question: Does Hong Kong have mild winters?

Where does one apply to get their license to riot and destroy property and attack folks?

Become a policeman in Missouri?

AP has it this way News from The Associated Press

Quote:

Off-duty St. Louis cop kills man ....patrolling ... neighborhood ... for a private security company... when he saw three males, and one of them ran off before stopping....When the officer did a U-turn, all three ran, so the officer gave chase, first in his car and then by foot. During the chase, he got into a physical altercation with the one he eventually killed.
Really? OFF DUTY - See some guys, chase them down, physically assault then kill?

Though it is sometimes hard to get past past views of the Police ("To Protect and Serve"), if given the chance, they will pull out a gun and use it every time. Shoot first, ask questions later. THIS. If you see a cop while out walking, do not start RUNNING. And, never never pull ANY type of weapon on a cop, they will respond by ventilating you. If you begin to run, a cop will automatically think you are up to no good and start pursuit. Plus, the cop has a license to empty the clip into you because he believes you have "committed a crime".

STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!! yells officer friendly.

The cop will then be placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is initiated. The cop will see the department shrink who will ask him "how he feels about the killing".

Remember, hands up and open while shouting, "I give up" sends a clear message you don't present a problem to them. They like that.

It's all good; the system is working exactly as it was designed to work.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the authorities have evidence on film that the officer was physically attacked, suffered injuries and then responded, in which case he will be exonerated.

If that turns out to be the case............Katy bar the door.
