Exclamation quick question

In the near future, I am planning on painting the grille white. I mean, the grey colored area of the grill ena not the chrome surrounding. What type of paint do I use. I am sort of familiar with paints used on model r/c cars.. would these things work? Also.. I assume the paint needs to withstand high tempretures. While I am at it.. should I paint the grille inserts white as well?
thanks

I painted the plastic grill insert on my 420SEL black and I used a can of black barbeque paint. I figures that could hold handle the heat and it did. I don't know if that comes in white. I would suggest several coats as this area is subject to flying stones etc, and the paint you put on can chip. As for the grill strips I sugggest leaving them as is, just paint the insert.

I would recomend going to your local NAPA and picking up the NAPA Technique brand paints. Get the white primer, white spray, and the clearcoat. I have done three grills on my 300E so far. the last two lasted a month with the paint i was using. This one will definately last the life of the car.
Good Luck!

Well being it that it is a plastic insert, I would think some standard plastic model paint would work. As for the heat, I don't think there is that much heat coming off the radiator. Besides, while the car is moving, the heat is pushed back by the wind. When the car is not moving and the engine is really hot, the fan will be on.

No offense but, model paint is not made to take a beating. Just a few rock chips and a few high pressure washes will make the paint peel off. Trust me, i have experiance.
