coolant thermostat bypass
Has anyone come up with a thermostat bypass for bleeding the cooling system? I envision a valve between the hot side of the thermostat and the upper radiator hose. The valve would be normally closed, opened only to speed up bleeding after filling the cooling system. An alternative is a thermostat housing design that allows a screw to force open the thermostat. Design and implementation aside, is it sound logic?

I'd put it on one of the heater hoses at the back of the engine I think. Easier to create a high spot there.

My Chevy LT1 V8 has a simple brass valve tapped into the thermostat outlet that lets air out at that spot. You just open it up and fill until liquid comes out.
