Cut the cord on social media.

Finally cut the cord on my instagram and snapchat account, damn near completely freeing me from social media, and have to say - it feels good! I've been off Facebook for over a year now, and MySpace even longer than that! I never had a twitter, and if I could figure out how to disable my G+ account, I'd do it in a second without hesitation.

I'm debating disabling my LinkedIn account, as I never really use it. Some people say it's a pretty valuable asset, but I have yet to see anyone I know personally use it.

Any of you gents cut the cord on social media?

I cut the cord on people I never talk to on fb, don't really use Instagram. LinkedIn has been a very valuable asset for me and I regularly get folks reaching out to me for open positions so I'm def keeping that.

I belong to one closed FB group. It's members are all my relatives and we use it specifically for sharing genealogical and family history docs, fotos and the like. Once in a great while when I'm truly bored I'll surf around and look at pages of people I know. I see them spending inordinate amounts of time posting inane crap they found on other people's pages. No thanks.

Personally, yes. I really enjoyed Facebook and dropping wise arse comments on other folks' pages, just spent way too much time doing it. Been almost 3 years now since I cut it.

Still on LinkedIn and Twitter for business, and have a fairly tight industry network for both, but gradually less so as we've hired a young buck to take over those duties. It's far more innate for him than for me or my brother due to our nearing old fart-ness. Eventually we'll have a Snapchat and Instagram presence since our customer demographics dictate we do.

LinkedIn is good for employee recruiting/headhunting and for those always on the lookout for a better opportunity. If you don't fall into one of those categories I don't see much value in it.

Emergency information for Aklim.

According to some of the women/girls on this website:

https://www.seekingarrangement.com/

LinkedIn offers data mining GOLD. Seems the sugar babies like to go out on LinkedIn looking for financially successful SUGAR DADDIES. According to a recently aired cable television documentary, sometimes brokers/matchmakers are involved in the deal.

Sounds like that is probably a win-win situation.

Possibly, but it appears to be quite a different use of LinkedIn than was originally presented. I always thought of LinkedIn as a networking site dedicated to BUSINESS networkers, not hookers looking for johns.

Sounds like business to me! LinkedIn has decent privacy settings, but they kind of defeat it's purpose to turn them on. The only spam I've gotten is from recruiters trying hard to get a hire. It's not uncommon to get a request from 3 different recruiters about the same exact job. It's a nice warm fuzzy feeling to know your profession is in demand though.

When LinkedIn was new in the marketplace it was touted as a business networking/recruiting/job seekers environment, NOT a dating service. Not that dating services are bad (Match.com, eHarmony.com provide a much needed service) but a shovel is not a rake.

Let the speed daters hang out at Match.com and eHarmony.com while the hookers and johns can hangout at seekingarrangement.com.

OTH, business professionals tend to want to flock together in a professional business environment which appears to NOT be the case at LinkedIn. For those who can read the tea leaves this means one thing and one thing only. YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP. (one more time) YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP.

I don't want to present my business profile to an environment that is being used, abused and misused for OTHER purposes. Something tells me other genuine business professionals feel EXACTLY the same way.......

Cut the cord on social media.

I just get too much crap on LinkedIn. SEO optimization, etc. If someone wants a job get out and knock on doors and become known in the industry. Whatever you type on your profile is not creditable to me.

It is true that a lot of business' are going just social media advertising.

What's interesting is how will instagram make money eventually? There must be a plan of some sort.
