I would go that isuzu motor in the duramax chevy. Those things will light the tires.

I suppose considering this is our VFD's current rescue/brush truck

something like this might be more maneuverable and offroad capable.

One of those Humvees sold for $29k. Whereas a really nice LMTV with a CAT 3116 sold for $18k. I'd say the latter was far more useful for a fire dept. Surplus 1998 Stewart & Stevenson M1079 LMTV 4x4 Van Truck in California, United States (GovPlanet Item #541398)

RH had a slant back hummer in one of their FDs. It was basically a show piece though, had airbrush art on the sides ("wolverine" if I'm not mistaken). I don't know if it was donated or what...pretty much the last town that needs a hummer in their FD.

Edit: I found this http://articles.courant.com/1996-08-20/news/9608200692_1_humvee-rocky-hill-town

Even as a biker and knowing the dirt bike trails back there, I don't think this is really necessary...

Having grown up running the meadows not-so-legally in my youth and responsibly in my not-so-youth, in everything from a FWD car to a RWD pickup to a Wrangler to my wife's Tahoe with street tires, a Humvee is certainly overkill for the wilds of RH.

Maybe when it's flooded? And I suppose a Hummer would straddle the rail sections but their width would sure make some of the trails interesting to navigate.
