I've always looked for a 'radio waves' symbol like those pictured in these results:

I dont have any cards with that, and i'm sure that labelling a card as such is voluntary on the part of the card issuer...

Sort of. For a car application, the master list / algorithm of rolling codes lives in the computer. This is read out of memory and then sent to a new key or they have found the point in the operating code to jump over.

The operating distance for a in key chip is inches. There are for example systems that will read a RFID chip in your pocket for the Mercedes "Keyless Go" system. However the antennas are as large as the door panels and in all 4 doors.

Thanks BobK. That's just what I need but I will try to find another company besides Norton.

Had a BAD virus (like wipe out everything) in a network with 15 PCs for production and one as a print server/backup/misc PC, and a UNIX server. The 15 PCs had Norton antivirus. The other one had AVG Free. All 15 PC's with Norton were wiped out so bad that the network had to be completely disconnected, except the UNIX Server and the PC with AVG which was protected and still clean. It ended up that the 15 PCs had to have the hard drives reformatted and rebuilt from the ground up. Most destructive Virus I have ever seen. Got NO help from Norton.

Haven't used Norton since and probably never will.

norton is a virus onto itself.

Bingo. Kaspersky, AVG, ESet are what works.

Got news for you -- apart from maybe Scandinavia and Japan, most places use cash more than the US so you probably weren't that unusual.

Personally, I prefer to pay in cash anyway. One can sometimes negotiate a "discount", plus it makes for better privacy.

I feel so informed, with that tip I won't go hungry on the streets any more looking for a place to swipe my card. Personally I like the cash economy but paying for hotels, rental cars, travel arrangements and the like can consume a lot of cash and it is that cash I was talking about, not a little pocket jingle for a day out.

Once you get out and about a little more you will find that not all thing can not be had with cash, there are kiosks in train stations and airports in some countries that only recognize chip cards so even in places where cash is king a chip card is important.

Correct -- I use it for:
(1) Things bought online
(2) Hotel/train/plane/rental car reservations
(3) Business expenses and utilities

That's really it.
