I saw him once in 75 and he was so drunk that the crowd was heading for the exits long before he finished his set.

I could say the same about a number of celebs/entertainers I have met/worked with...

Willie Mays-turned up drink as a lord at 8 AM on a Saturday to shoot an episode of The Baseball Bunch-Thank God Tug McGraw was in town

Joey Heatherton was so toasted at 9 AM she couldn't hold a conversation when we were doing a show for the Travel Channel- Audrey Landers saved the day

Huey Lewis was so ****efaced he fell off the stage at a show on the National Mall in DC

Hank Williams Jr came out of his tour bus with a bottle of Wild Turkey to do a meet & greet of fans for CMT . These were disabled folks who were long time fans and had traveled to Bakersfield for his show. He proceeded to chug the bottle and cuss out the woman who set the whole thing up.

want more?

Along those lines, it's a wonder when any musician lives to "a ripe old age" considering the lifestyle challenges.
