Nice example, wonder what the reserve is? $20k?

I remember dealing with this guy and his cars a few years ago when we were looking for a diesel around 2004. Went to look at an SDL he had for sale that was very clean with low mileage. After examination and looking at the odometer you could tell it was tampered with and was done very poorly and was quite obvious. Plus there was a lot more wrong with the car after being told it was an absolute "cream puff". Didn't drive it and left within 10 minutes.

.....when a 24 year old car has only 29,000 miles and there's no explanation as to why??? To my mind an under driven car can be as suspect as a high mileage car.

On my forum, ANY car being sold in New Jersey is suspect due to the near-tradition of odometer roll-backs among sellers and "dealers" in that state. It's almost a cliche, but it always seems to happen with cars coming out of that state. We call it the "Guido" effect.

Had a 124 come in that easily had 300k+ with temp tags and a cluster showing just over 100k. I got a good laugh because the only break in the dust built up on the dash was the rub marks from the cluster being pulled out.

Well on a vehicle like that in person its pretty easy to tell if the mileage is correct or not, W126's especially tend to all wear in the same areas.
1. Pedal pads should be original and have no or very low wear.
2. Steering wheel should show no wear.
3. Car has the 4 original red dot keys as it should, they should show no or minimal wear.
4. The wood on the console is also a good indicator, that always gets scratched up from keys and stuff.
5. Low mileage W126's tend to drive very tight and feel pretty good, when new and in proper tune these were proper luxury cars, and should drive like them. I can tell the difference between a sub 100k mile car and a 200k+ example.


I would expect an expensive car like that to have come out of the original owners garage that housed a lot of other expensive cars, hence the low mileage.

I would also expect it to have a proper paperwork trail to prove this, if you want the big bucks for a collectable example you need the paper to back up your claims.
