The Coming War on Pizza
Experts zero in on pizza as prime target in war on childhood obesity - LA Times
On any given day, 22% of kids between the ages of 6 and 19 eat pizza. (That compares to 14% of toddlers and 13% of Americans overall.) The only foods more popular with kids are “grain desserts,” a category that includes cakes, cookies and doughnuts. That sort of explains this http://i0.wp.com/www.groceryshopforf...size=478%2C529 |
are the kids eating too much and it happens to be pizza  i know my kids eat lots of frozen pizza because its cheap fast and easy, their favorite kind now is TJ's st louis style, thin crust, provel cheese mmmmm

Like anything, pizza eaten in excessive quantities can be harmful. Interestingly, unless the crust is thick, it probably contains less carbs than a sandwich of the same weight.

The industrial pizza and PBJ sandwiches served in school cafeteria's have about the same carb load, 32-35 grams. However, higher saturated fat content, sodium, etc. are all on the pizza side.

Holy crap, toddlers don't eat pizza as often as a teenager???? You don't say!:eek::D
Hell, my kids eat pizza at least once a week. If they weren't in the 90th+ percentile for height and around the 50th percentile for weight, I might give it a second thought. The difference is they all play a sport of some sort. Eating just about anything that a non-twig and grass eater would eat while sitting around on your arse won't be good for your waistline. |
The wife has found a frozen pizza brand at last that does not taste like the cardboard box. It still is far from what I consider a good pizza though. I got spoiled years ago by her homemade ones I guess.

Places around here cut their pizza in little squares, it's really terrible. |
The recipe works fine, just not as complex as the overnight "no-knead" dough. Definitely need a preheated stone in the lowest rack position or oven floor in 500 degree oven.

A giant cookie pizza?
Combining two of my favorite foods, thanks papa john! Id also like to thank dockers for working hand in hand with papa john by desiging their elastic expandable waistline khakis. |
Gas grills can hit higher temps than home ovens, but you gotta be careful since it's hard to check on the pizza when the grill hood is down, which is necessary for the high temps. I grill on natural slate flooring squares instead of the metal grates.

The wife walks to her job and on garbage day she notices what people are tossing out. She said the other day, this one house a couple lives in had an huge amount of pizza boxes and beer cans. LOL
