Salvation Army, Homeworks, your Church, ...

Although this sounds really hard to believe, my son generally has a hard time getting his service hours completed each semester unless he signs up really early. The slots dry up pretty fast.

I am doing it now as a retirement gig. They will keep you as busy as you want.

IMHO, a pretty good deal. You can learn skills and practice on someone else's house!

Habitat for Humanity, you give and get (knowledge), pretty good stuff! I am going to be part of a "Blitz Build" (8 days) this spring. Pretty exited about it.

Local soup kitchen. You'll learn a lot about a huge problem for this country - homelessness.

x2 on habitat. Good organization which goes way beyond simply handing out cheap houses.

I couldn't agree more. I never had a clue until I ran into an old friend who was having a bad time following a divorce. Never became homeless but it was close. I do all my volunteering at local food banks now.
