Classic Mercedes money no object

Some simple questions, let's say you won the lottery big time.Would you buy a few new Merc's or go out and buy all your favourite classic Merc's?If your into the classics which one's would you go for?remember money no object.
For my sins top of the list would be a Gullwing, then a 220 SEB,190 SL Pagoda,Pullman 600,280 CE,500 SL,500 SEC....Oh yeah mustn't forget a Mog as a stress relief toy!!!

First I'd get a nice little place of my own, with a garage like Jay Lenos' (Climate controlled, of course!)
Then a 300SL Gullwing AND Roadster (So I wouldn't have to choose).
A late 60s SE Cabrio with the factory 5 speed stickshift would be nice and, for my everyday 'beater', maybe a late 60s SE sedan, also with a stickshift then, one of those 230S Finnie Wagons (The perfect thing for flea markets!) I would probably add some others but I'd need some time to think about it.
And finally, after satisfying all my 'instant gratification', I'd restore the car I had in High School, my 1961 180b Ponton. It's the one rusting under a tarp in my driveway - the one I keep saying I'm going to restore when I win the Lottery!

Happy Motoring, Mark

I'd get a new rebuilt motor and tranny coming for the 300D, then the paint job for the 240D .
Then I'd call the wife and say honey "Pack your bags we've hit the lottery". She would say - "Where are we going?". I would tell her I wasn't going anywhere

Wellw ho wouldnt say the gullwing and 300sl convertible as two major choices.

I'm also prone to the W126 SEC coupe gullwing conversion I have seen before.

A 72 280sl would be a treat, and a nice 1950's 190 ponton with column shift is also very cool. a friend's dad had one he drove for 40 years, then gave to my friend.

If I won the lottery though, first thing would be buy a nice piece of property, then build my dream house, add my stable of cars, and then make some wise investments with some of the money to earn even more.

Of course then I'd enjoy going to school to become a mercedes technician just so I could work on my own cars and be able to do it well.

The first thing is to buy a little island with a dream house custom built so no one can even come close, then upgrade my boat to a 55 footer.

For cars; a '55 Gullwing, a '57 300SL, a '70s 280SL, a '89 450SL, a '03 SL55 and a '04 SLR. Mmmmm, that should round out my SL collections.

Wait.... gotta to throw in an Austin Martin Vanquish, Porsche 959 and a Ferrari F40 Spyder.

Then a CL600 just to commute around town, and a new Bimmer 7 in case I need to stop by the grocery store (gotta love than trunk lid auto close feature) just in case the servant forgets some vital items. Wow am I a car nut or what?

HAAAHAAHAHAA!!! That's funny, Jim! "Pack your bags..." heehee..

Anyway, the only new one I'd buy is a G-Wagen. Everything else would be pre-85. A Gullwing, a 69 SL, an old Unimog, 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, a 116 450 SEL, a 6.9 of course, a nice 123 TD for my folks, maybe an old 170V, a 50's Ponton, a Pullman....that's a good start!

Mike

I agree that I would definitely love to have the G500. Probably the only new Benz that I would buy without a doubt.

After that..
300SEL 6.3
W116 6.9
R107
R129 SL600 - gotta have a V-12
500E
560SEL W126
misc. W123's...

Oh well if I have to list it it'd be endless. However since summer is fast approaching, the one that I definitely would love to have is a mint R107 with working A/C.

It would be three cars.

The sister ship to John's 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet, deep blue. A W109 300SEL 6.3 and a W116 450SEL 6.9. The last two would be in less than mint and I would drop plenty of cash on parts to fix them up myself. What can I say, I like a challenge.

An easy question if you can have as many as you want; trickier if you only have, say, 3 or 5.

I really like these cars:

"Adenauer" 300d: ivory or black over black leather--to be driven in.
W124 320CE Cabriolet smoke silver over black leather, brown hood--for high days and holidays.
Then it gets tricky: W202 C43? R129 500SL? W140 600SEL? W124 500E? W126 560SEC? W124 300TE 24? W116 450SEL 6.9? R107 300SL?

... And am I alone in my fondness for the W201 190E 2.6? Perhaps in Bornite with chequered cloth? Or even the 190LE 2.0, only available in Linarite Blue?
