Batten down the hatches in the Northeast!

Stocked up on beer and cigars, we're good to go! Blizzard Warning from 7pm tonight until 1am Wed.

20-30" forecast for CT, more to the east of us. 35+ mph winds. My father keeps sending pics from the Keys. My brother is at a conference down in Tampa, supposed to come back tomorrow. I'm not sure if he's trying to get back today or not. I'm sure he'd rather stay down there. His wife probably not so much.

As it would figure, one of our biggest and most productive trade shows is in Providence tomorrow through Thursday. The show will go on, it'll just be all of us vendors who are able to make it standing around talking with each other. Also have a local trade group conference on Wednesday. If they go ahead with it, it will be a total waste of time since it's all landscape contractors and municipal guys/ladies and they'll be a little busy.

Likely to throttle back progress on the house for a few days.

Stay safe and make the best of it!

Im working nights today, tomorrow, ands weds at my part time job run shuttle buses with bald tires.

At least 5 of us have been yelling at the boss for a month about his racing slick duallys on two of his 25 passenger airport shuttles. Unless hes replacing tires right now, its too late to deal with it.

Should be interesting
Of course you havent really lived if you never got to go drifting in a bus full of passengers with no seatbelts and luggage

NYC was spared, so Jon Stewart's potential last words were wasted . . .

“My guess is, if you are watching this program, New York is gone. I hope you remember us for our world-class pizza and bridges, and not for our tendency to tell people who innocently happen to have their eyes lock with our eyes to go f— themselves.”

Here's some pictures from Northern Mass. We already had 27" inches in our town before noon, and it has snowed basically constantly since then, so we're probably closing in on three feet now.

First, around eleven o'clock last night, our back deck looked like this:

Needless to say, we were not impressed. However, eight short hours later, when I got up...

...I was a little more impressed.

We didn't get out to shovel until the early afternoon, but things were buried! This is the only door that opens inward and so the only door that we could exit the house through:

The cars were buried.

This is our street. It hasn't been plowed since the early morning:

Here's another set of comparison pictures from last night and this afternoon.

We've managed to shovel out the path from the front door to the van, and completely freed up the van. We have nothing but shovels, so the progress is slow. I need to free up the Corolla tomorrow, which will be a big project.

I still like snow, though!

One of the more ridiculous things going on around here is the Governor hiding in the bunker. The MEMA (MA Emergency Management Agency) has a survival bunker, and the governor always retreats into it when there is a severe weather event. He's been hiding out there since last night, occasionally emerging to give press conferences in which he had such insights such as, "People should start on shoveling themselves out."

It leads to some pretty funny news, though... "There was stirring spotted near the bunker a few minutes ago!", or, "Gov. Baker is supposed to emerge from the bunker soon..." It sounds like we're listening to a nature show .

That's about how my yard looked this morning. All you really needed was a leaf blower to move the snow.
I remember years ago, my best friend & I went out to a beachfront bar & had a few beers on the eve of a storm of the century. We jokingly toasted our last drink in the place, Of course, the feared storm never materialized, and the bar still stands. That was probably 15 years ago. For every five or six or more of these, you will get a Sandi blow into town however. .
