I hate $!*# snow!!!

Generator, check. Fuel, check. Food, check. Beer, check. Ice melt, check. Shovels, check. Flashlights, batteries, portable radio.....etc., check. Mother-in-law (with dog), check. Am I forgetting anything?

Adverse weather is when people with old fashioned land line phones chuckle at their wirelesss, cable tv, VOIP neighbors.

You seem to be missing a G63 6x6.

Hopefully you can forget the Mother In Law? Remember what the acronyms mean:

Mother In Law
Malfunction Indicator Light

Coincidence? I think not :D I'd keep the dog and forget the MIL if it were my case. :D Thankfully mine are on the other side of the world so I don't have to have any ado with them and blame it on the distance. "Oh, I'd so love to visit but the wife and I can't easily get 2 days off from our bosses.". I guarantee my boss (ME) won't give me the time off.

I'd second that advice.

72 hours of news induced hysteria, followed by a day or so of snow, followed by a day of cleanup and back to business as usual for thursday. Possible power outages, will be fixed over time.
Honestly, every single storm is billed as the next- record breaking storm! millions will perish! As if winter weather didnt happen every single year.

My biggest concern is when the power will come back on if it goes out, and the disturbing tendency of my driveway pavement chipping up with shoveling.

spdrun 01-26-2015 04:47 PM

Good parts of this storm:
(1) It's supposed to stay below freezing for the next week and a half. Meaning it will melt slowly, minimizing flooding.
(2) It's well below freezing, so the snow is light and not compacted. Makes it easier to shovel and puts less strain on roofs.
(3) No freezing rain mixed in, so damage to power lines will be minimal.

Yeah, that sopping wet stuff that immediately froze earlier was a mess. Ill take feet of light snow any day
