Saw that in the paper this morning. It was a result of a '1966 Mustang Wanted' ad wasn't it. The perp responded to that ad I think. Is there a difference in risk between a 'wanted' ad and responding to a 'for sale' ad?

So sad. :(

If you're expected to show up with a was of cash, I'd say yes.

Case in Toronto, Canada a year or so ago. Two guys responding to a used truck ad. Then went on a test drive with the vehicles owner and killed him.

At least they were caught as well. It was absolutely premeditated and the truck would have been parted out.

If a neighbor had not observed the vehicle that dropped the two prospective purchasers off. I believe they would have in all probability pulled it off. They even owned a large animal incinerator. They have at least been tied to one more murder so far.

You cannot protect yourselves from all possibilities of harm. It is just a small risk factor in life that anyone can accidentally run into the path of a seriously sick sociopath.

Depends where you live. Where we are now presents little risk. Where we moved from presented far more.

There you had to keep everything under lock and key. Plus the general society had far more than their share of problems than here on a per capita basis. Here if you lost your wallet or purse for example nine out of ten times the finder would see you got it back intact.

Talk about a professional paranoid. How many online/in-person transactions happen per year? And how many murders do we hear about?

I don't buy too many used cars so it isn't a huge problem but most anything else, I would meet at a public place, go early and case the place out. Definately packing. I will never go to your house. We meet at a Starbucks, restaurants or whatever but is going to be public and with plenty of people. Over 500 and I will arrange for someone else to watch me who is also packing.

Actually that isn't a bad idea. We moved to a neighborhood that we didn't know was bad eons ago. Wife didn't know how to shoot so we had her walk the dog for his night pee and I covered from the window. If we had done the reverse, she might shoot me or the dog. Dog was a pit bull and nice but protective of her so it works. Soon as we found a better place, we left.

Not really, ever see residents of a "good' area get interviewed after a robbery? " This is such a good area, why would someone commit a robbery?"

Bad guys have cars. . .and know where the money is.

Q " Why do you rob banks?"

A " Because that's where the money is. "

Family branches are know to everyone locally. The other family members would act like whatever their relative did impacted them.

There is no immigration here and little to no population changes. In some ways it is like time has passed this area by. That is both good and bad I suppose but it is what it is.

My own belief is at some point people will discover this area eventually as I did. A young person could do far worse. If too many people where to discover it might be a bad thing as well.

We only had one inside the family issue. At 14 one of our daughters did a little shoplifting locally. We made her return the merchandise and also pay for it. At the same time I made her tell the retailers that her father believes she should work a little for them free of charge telling them who her father was at the same time.

Several retailers did. After that I knew she would never touch another thing that was not hers in her lifetime. The police are also pretty efficient here when required as they know everyone. Now that said move to Halifax a hundred and twenty miles away and it is substantially different.

As for robberies we just do not have any. Domestic disputes would be the biggest issue locally I suspect.
