new cars and transmission coolers

I have a 2015 mazda cx5 with six speed automatic transmission. The stock setup has a transmission cooler only in the radiator. That bothers me a bit. Would yall say all cars with automatic transmission need external coolers these days? I know my engine is only a 2.5 liter but south Texas gets really hot in the summer and stop and go traffic can be brutal. Why do you guys think?

its general consensus that any mazda/ford in south texas benefits from an additional transmission cooler - even the little hayden branded cooler from autozone.

All cars need a manual transmission unless someone chopped off your left foot.

Actually on Top Gear they showed a team of disabled vets competing in off-road racing with a manual transmission Land Rover. The driver was missing his left leg below the knee.

One would have come in really handy for me a few times! Sometimes you can drain the battery to the point when the ignition would still fire but it won't crank.

As far as manual steering and brakes, there's still normally a direct connection for manual operation if the power assist fails. (Except on abominations like the Infiniti Q50 and cars with the idiotic Mercedes electronic braking system.)

A personal preference. I prefer manual for the weight and simplicity savings. I just wish you could actually still get a car with crank windows.

...the front end is too heavy (like a 123 300D) or the manufacturer dials in crazy amounts of caster (like most Mercedes). My '63 Dodge Dart weighed not much and got along fine with manual steering and manual drum brakes even after I swapped in a 360 V8. Ok, maybe stopping power was a bit () lacking. My Sammy steered just fine with manual steering, as did the numerous old 911's I've had the good fortune to drive. Also, see the reviews of the Alfa Romeo 4C and its non-assisted rack and pinion steering.

...the car is too heavy. Motorcycles all have manual brakes, and some touring bikes approach half a ton. I'm not sure what the cutoff point is for power brakes becoming a good thing, but based on the experience of my manual brake Dart, I'm thinking power brakes should probably be on anything heavier than about 2500 pounds.

I used to drive a 1937 International Dump truck at a quarry. It was very big. It had neither power brakes or power steering. I did just fine. Steering wheel was big though.

Why back in my day (insert Luddite comment here) and then we walked home 10 miles in the snow without shoes.

I was once trapped in a 1970 Ford for 20 minutes because I couldn't find the non-existent power door lock switch.

At this point, NO. You are under warranty. Anything goes wrong and you are on the hook. After warranty is up, play ball. If you have an infra red thermometer, I would get a scan of the pan when it is at it's hottest to decide.

Unless? Unless you are NOT a masochist and believe in your own comfort?
