Looks like a normal highschool messup to me.

Have the kid that broke it buy a new window or get one form a junkyard. It's a Yodge, so that's easy to find.

Definitely make the kid pay, but as a lesson not a punishment.

If I had busted out a teacher's window like that I'd definitely have had to fix it or pay or work i toff.

I don't believe in car payments and I like my dakota. I do wish I had gone for an 80's C10 just because rear glass is stupid easy to replace
I don't believe in car payments either. Pay cash. The '80s C10 would have rusted-out to the elements by now.

Well the glass has a gasket that's glued in, it's not like a chevy or ford that just pops in. Dodge had to over complicate it. It's a pain to remove. I should know what's going down this week

Hopefully, either the school or the one who damaged the truck will buck up to pay for the damage done.

Pretty good feeling that the school won't be paying for it either nor can I make a students parent.

I should have not left my last job.

Replace it and get a rack to prevent future problems. Its flat glass, cant be more than a few hundred bucks at the most

This stuff is bound to happen with a pickup that actually gets used as a pickup. If it wasnt one of these kids it would have happened eventually

When getting pallets I usually use one to cover the glass.why I didn't do that this time........no idea.

I see headache racks on ebay for around $250 so it might be a worthwhile investment.

I kinda think those headache racks are not useful for piercing type stuff, like thrown lumber.

I had a great expanded steel heavy duty rack for an old dodge d100 i had that even came with lights off craiglist. Id check craigslist for old utilty racks, you might find way more of a rack that needs some paint for the same money

OR, make it a class project to build a nice wooden rack! The offender can get all the **** jobs of the project

Getting these kids to build planter boxes was a chore in itself.

I've found some headache racks that use some heavy gauge wire mesh to protect the window.

No glass coverage?

Throw a sliding window on and forget about it, should be well under $300 installed.

I have used my truck for construction since 2009 and it still has the original back window, they don't break that often.

I can't imagine rear glass would be that expensive. I just replaced a windshield on a rep's truck ('12 Silverado) and it was $273 tax included.

I know you're at the middle school, but does the high school have an auto shop class that might be looking for a project?

If it hasn't completely disintegrated yet you can slap some tinted vinyl over the outside and some clear vinyl over the inside. That will hold it together for at least a year.
