OH My GOD.. I can see them preparing drinks

Betsy, bar the doors, cover the children's eye .... they are preparing drinks in plain sight.
Utah bill seeks to take down 'Zion Curtain' in restaurants

Quote:
Powell's new bill says that in addition to having a child-free area, restaurants must post signs at all entrances "stating in large letters that: 'Notice: This establishment prepares and dispenses alcoholic products in public view.'"
Now this is just plain stupid in my opinion. Damn liberals and their big government.

My drinking increased dramatically after seeing Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail - if only there had been some screens up then I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted to be cool like him...

...in fact I'm sure that "Days of Thunder" makes me want to drive too fast - it really isn't my fault you see officer...

...and when I bite people's necks in bar room brawls I reckon "Interview with the vampire" is to blame...

...and sliding around the house in my socks lip syncing to crap 70s music was due to "risky business"...

...and "I'll never leave my wing man"...

=> damn it - ban Tom Cruise - it is all his fault.

So, in such an establishment, I am dining with the wife and kiddies. I order a gin and tonic which arrives with a slice of lime affixed to the lip of the glass. I take the lime slice and twist it over the drink, releasing drops of lime juice into the drink. Have I broken the law by continuing the drink preparation process in plain view?

I think that would be defined as enhancement, not preperation. The drink was prepared prior to delivery to your table and was delivered in a ready to use form, as defined by your order of a specific concoction.

I suppose Utah establishments could resort to serving drinks wrapped in brown paper bags.

Oh ye who scoff!

Take 18 minutes to watch this sad tale and you will understand just how drink can destroy your life.

And if you don't watch it then don't blame me if you wind up broke and in prison due to your seeing a drink poured up.

Which begs the question. Why is OK to drink in the presence of the little impressionable ones but not prepare it? The kid can figure out how to get the liquid devil from the container to the glass?

BTW, this law has the potential to upset the four Roman Catholics in Utah, when the priest has to duck behind a screen during a First Holy Communion mass...

Nothing wrong with seeing Daddy fall face-first into his Fettuccine Alfredo, as long as the kiddies don't see the bartender preparing his martinis...
