Rare W126.

Mercedes Benz 500 Series 560 Sel W126 | eBay

Honest car in a rare color, but IMHO rare doesn't make it desirable I don't care for it. I'd **** can the chrome wheels and arch's, and spring for a new set of 15's or maybe the 8 hole 16's. W126's were under tired and do much better with 16's.

Mercedes Benz 500 Series Sel | eBay
This one must be owned by an enthusiast, the pictures are of all the right places.

Its a shame blue is so rare, I really am not a fan of the earth tones.

Love the second one. Not a fan of gold but I'd drive it someone gave it to me.

Hard to tell from the pictures, plus its from the wrong state.

Like the interior though, kind of feeling something more traditional. 560SEL 1991ish vintage or SEC.

I think the SEC's will price themselves out of sight in the next decade, might not be a bad time to get into one before they are $50k like nice 6.3's.

Both nice, but a little too much chrome. Second one looks like trunk alignment might be off a bit but its hard to tell.

Desert Taupe is not my first color choice on a W126, but I would pull off those stupid wheel arch trims and take that car in a second.

Our one 300SD is that gold color:

It does need some work though. Driver's fender rusted out, new one needs painted. The passenger rear quarter needs some work too.

Interior is that brazil color I think, dark brownish.

I bet without the chrome wheel arch's and some nice painted 16in 8 holes the first one would look pretty good.

I don't miss any of the cars I sold now. Its a little like thinking about the first wife....we had some good times but they were outnumbered vastly by not so good times. I am not even a little sorry I am no longer married to her.

I have had a pang now and then. The old Ferrari I had is now worth 3/4 a mill or so now so financially I'd like it back but at the time I sold it for all the money and paid of a lot of debt avoiding personal bankruptcy. I also had had all the fun with it I wanted and was tired of fooling around with it.

in my opinion (having owned a w126 for 19 years)

To truly get the full measure of w126 pleasure and use of a w126, you have to consider it as a ground-bound llar jet, and drive it almost every day at extra-legal speeds, like you can, on the Autobahn.

Sadly, this has never been possibly in the USA.

These vehicles were engineered and designed to be safely and comfortably driven at their top speed (149 mph) all day long.

With proper care, (which includes regular maintenance, plus garaging to keep rust away over the years,) they can last for decades and hundreds of thousands of miles.

They were built to a "COST NO OBJECT" standard of quality control and build quality. And they were engineered to be "mechanic friendly" and easy to work on, with everything logically laid out.

Plus, they were very far ahead of their competition in regards to safety features, for their time - and their beauty in styling has withstood the test of time.

We shall never see the likes of them again.
