MB Zetos: Mercedes Monster Camper

The Zetros: Mercedes Monster Camper

The 18’ x 7’ living space is powered by two lithium-ion batteries. But when the proverbial hits the fan, its got a diesel powered generator and a backup solar panels that enable you to finish the mission. Paired with its 600 liter fuel capacity and 300 liter tank of of water, you be certain to keep going long after the dust settles.

It looks like the frame flexes in a similar manner to a Unimog

If all of the components for the box section are self contained then only electrical wires would need to have any movement.

Does Mercedes sell them as a cab and chassis? Might be able to get away with only $200k if you had a more reasonable shed fitted out back.

I think they pretty much only come in the cab/chassis configuration while the customer chooses the outfitter of their choice to provide body.

So its like a regular truck than.

Mercedes does funny things in the US, I figured they only sold these trucks fitted out and not as a cab and chassis with a ton of ways to configure it like the US manufactures.

That apparent flex is part optical illusion because the cab shape tilts to begin with. Given the length of this thing it might torsion less that other suv's adjusted for length? Neat ride if you got the $

I was discussing this with some of the local gazillionairs around here and none of them expressed a desire to own this. They all said if Mercedes had come out with this about five years ago they would have all snapped them up but with oil prices being what they are at the moment they cannot afford to upgrade from the trailers they use now when they have to go on site.

This is the same bunch that once thought they could not live without a Hummer since they needed to get out in the boonies where their oil wells sit. Most of them now drive Ford SuperDuty trucks which work well both on the road and off, at least according to them.

So short of selling these to Middle East Kings and who'its I don't know how many of these will ever hit the road.
